Nathalie will be one of the 5 new cat feeding stations Kirsten Cares For Cats will take on in 2024. There are 20 cats but they do not belong to Nathalie. They belong to someone else that started with a couple of cats but due to not sterilizing there are now the 20 cats and these cats are hungry and going to Nathalie's house looking for food. This is how a cat feeding station begins. The 5 new cat feeding stations will add 60 cats to the more than 200 cats we already feed at the 15 established feeding stations. I am asking if you can sponsor or donate a monthly bag of food. I need assistance to continue feeding hungry cats and sterilizing so we do not have more feeding stations added to the now 20 we begin with in the New Year 2024. I will gladly provide receipts or happily show you the cats receiving the food. I am also available for any questions.   What are your values? Dear Animal Lover, There are only 2 days left to reach our $20,000 goal. Help us help the school children sterilize their animals! As we approach the end of the year, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued support of Amigos de Animales. Your generosity has enabled us to make a significant impact in the lives of animals in our community. We are excited to share with you that we are raising funds to conduct sterilization clinics in five schools in the Boquete area. Our Education Outreach team has been visiting rural elementary schools to work with students and teachers on how to love and care for their pets and the benefits of sterilization. During one of these visits, we were inspired by teacher Eric’s project in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classroom at El Frances Arriba school. This is a small rural school of 66 students. Teacher Eric took one of the books we had donated entitled Valores (or Values in English) and taught a complete project around the book. The students made placards to display around the entrance of the school, and Teacher Eric was excited to show us how he had been inspired by our books. We are thrilled to see the impact our donations have had on the students and teachers in the community. With your help, we can continue to inspire these values and make a difference in the lives of animals and people in our community. Our goal is to sterilize at least 100 animals for free at each of these schools in 2024. This will prevent hundreds of unwanted births and reduce greatly the potential suffering of both animals and their owners. The cost to sterilize each animal is $40.00, and our goal is to raise $20,000.00 to cover the costs of equipment, supplies, transportation, and veterinary staff for these clinics. He has done a couple of big projects for us. One project was to repair drywall on our patio ceiling. Jose wanted to know why the drywall had cracks and appeared to be bowing. We are so glad he did! The entire ceiling was not supported properly for 3/4" drywall. He reinforced it and then applied new drywall. This ceiling was 15ft high at its highest. Very large 20x20ft ceiling. He did the work flawlessly! He also covered everything and painted it for us. He hauled off all the debris and cleaned up his work area daily. The next project was to clean and scrape off old paint around our windows, apply new caulking and re-paint. Again a fabulous job! We had a wind storm and we hired Jose to repair damage to our soffits on our home. Some in very high 15ft places. His work is impeccable. If you supply the material for him to tape and cover, he will do that. So many do not cover surrounding surfaces when painting. He does! I highly recommend Jose for all your handyman needs! This clinic we did our 27,000th animal! We spayed or neutered over 3,600 animals this year, far surpassing our previous record of 3,050. Over 650 of those animals came through our mini-clinics. What a year it has been!   CLINIC MUSINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT Wow! What can I say? Our country has been shut down by protests for many weeks now, especially affecting our province of Chiriqui. Our last clinic was postponed because our veterinarians were unable to get to our clinic due to roadblocks. We weren't quite sure what to expect for our end of November clinic as there have been ongoing fuel and food shortages and continuing roadblocks. We need not have worried! Our veterinarians found a way to get to the clinic - let me tell you it was not always easy! Our volunteers came in force - some with very low fuel in their cars! Our owners and collectors also came out in droves to support the clinic. We sterilized 305 animals despite the adversity. This community is absolutely amazing! I am so grateful that this community pulled together to help all these animals. Wow! What can I say?   🐶 OUR 2024 CALENDARS ARE HERE!! 🐱 Our famous calendars are finally here! Buy them at Mailboxes Etc, Mascota's, Mike's Global Grill, La Granja, The Garden Restaurant, Larry's Place, and the BCP Tuesday Market.   "THEY ASKED - WE ANSWERED" FUNDRAISER FOR CLINICS IN 5 LOCAL SCHOOLS Last month we kicked off our year-end campaign to raise funds to do sterilization clinics near Boquete-area schools where our volunteers have been helping. After two clinics in our schools, we know that one very important piece is our mobile van. With the van we are able to pack up everything that is needed to put on a clinic for up to 200 animals. Add a few volunteers and a veterinarian or two or three as well as a school to set up, we are good to go. The one other necessary ingredient is your help. We have 5 schools on the waiting list for a clinic. At a cost of $40.00 to sterilize a dog or cat, we need $4,000 per clinic to sterilize 100 animals for free. Our goal is $20,000 which would allow us to do 5 clinics. We've raised $9,350 so we're almost half way there! The van, the volunteers, the schools are all ready to go! Visitors can expect to find unique and one-of-a-kind pieces, including jewelry, iron work, wood work, soaps, textiles, and more. The "Arts and Craft Market" is a great opportunity to support local artists and find the perfect gift for someone special. Whether you're looking for a unique piece of jewelry or a beautiful piece of woodwork, you're sure to find something that catches your eye. VIP tickets are $25 which includes a special gift, free beverage and early entry (11:30). General admission is $5 and includes a gift with access from 1 - 4 PM. I’m the four-wheeled Cupid of the animal world. I roll up to neighborhoods, play some Barry White (okay, maybe not), and help furry friends find their happily ever after. You could say I’m the Tinder for spaying and neutering. Why would you encourage others to volunteer here with AdA? Because life is ruff without responsible pet ownership! Members of our Handicap Foundation again enjoyed a wonderful morning at The Rock Restaurant. This is the third year that our handicapped members, accompanied by a caregiver, were welcomed at the Rock Restaurant for our Christmas celebration. They decorated gingerbread cookies with lots of candies, ate delicious snacks and went home with Christmas gifts and wonderful memories… Thank you Mr. Jörg Senne… for making this yearly event an outstanding success. All our members love this very special gift, which was exemplary executed by your super-kind staff. The pictures tell it all!
