Changing the name of a successful event is a risky move, in my opinion. In this particular case, jazz and blues aficionados willing to pay the price to enjoy their preferred music may be far less likely to shell out the big money for a more inclusive program. Too, "Jazz & Blues Festival" has a certain singularity, grittiness, and pizazz missing from the bland "Music & Arts Festival."
I agree. We have attended this event for 3 years in a row. There are very few Jazz musicians compared to the Blues musicians. Perhaps they have changed the name as they can not get the genre of musicians they hope for.

Should be stellar with Isacc as director! Glad he is returning!
At the age of 25 Isaac founded Fundación Sinfonía Concertante de Panamá. Presently, the programs of FUNSINCOPA have expanded to three different high-risk neighborhoods. He is also Artistic Director and founder of the Alfredo Saint-Malo Music Festival of Panama. In June of 2009, Isaac was given recognition by the Instituto Nacional de Cultura de Panamá. Isaac has been an active member of the YOA – Orchestra of the Americas since 2003. In 1998 he attended the Daniel Heifetz International Institute in Annapolis, Maryland. In 2000, Isaac studied with Karen Melik-Stefanov at Southwest Minnesota State University. In 2001 he transferred to Florida International University to study with Keith Robinson and Javier Arias. In 2005 Isaac studied under Gary Hardy at Baylor University where he earned his MA in cello performance, and in 2010 he earned an Artist Certificate studying with Andres Diaz at Southern Methodist University. Isaac currently resides in Baton Rouge and is a doctoral cello student at Louisiana State University.

You can also do this with Boquete Outdoor Adventures at Los Establos Plaza. We have done it and it is awesome. From Boquete, includes lunch and all transportation.
Great locally owned company!

I just wanted to provide an update and a recommendation ..... we went with Servicios Sanitarios Santamaria (772-6136) or (6500-2043). The two men who showed up were very polite, professional and did a great job!!! I've used several companies back in the U.S. and these gentlemen were so much better than them.
They pumped out two tanks and cleaned out two drain lines. Very nice work and clean. I recommend them if you need septic or drainage work.
Do you mind telling what they charged you?

Here is another good story.
Last year I went into Franklin Jurado, which usually has good customer service, looking to get another can of paint. I bought the old can in with me and went to the paint counter. No one was behind the counter. There were a few employees nearby and I asked for assistance. Uno Momento one said. So I waited at the counter and a young man came over who spoke perfect English said that the gal that mixes the paint is at lunch and could I come back in an hour and a half? I said is there not another employee here that can mix the paint. No, he said. Only she can do it!
Regarding Price Smart re-stocking system. It is rare that we can go there and get everything on our list. They are always out of something we buy on a regular basis. Especially Kirkland dog food, frozen blueberries, and greek non-fat yogurt.

Sometimes when I’m up against it, I try to remind myself that the person in between me and ‘efficiency’ is probably only earning about $2 or maybe $3 an hour.
At those wage levels, it’s difficult to expect much employee incentive or enthusiasm to do a better job.
Wise words Keith!

If you build it the real Estate investors will come and drive up property values. The thing about China is, it puts its money where its mouth is in the majority of their investments.

We did a tour of Casco Viejo and our tour guide said this landmark wood building now houses senior citizens with no other place to live. Sad!
The moving of the car by all those folks is something!

Just ask them. They can do anything on the menu vegetarian style.

Sadly, the Oasis Restaurant will probably close on March 21 unless Anayansi can find someone to take it over.
That's too bad! That's a nice place!

I was a general contractor for 35 years back in the States and Keith's statement about the Chlorine is correct. I hadn't heard about the drain cleaner but that also makes sense to me. One thing that all my septic installers recommended was the addition of Rid-x or some other septic bacteria on a regular basis to make sure you maintain a health septic tank. http://www.rid-x.com/
Thanks, Good advice!

In summary, our approach of going in with a smile and a statement to the effect that "I need your help" (along with written documentation) works wonders. Leave the bad attitude at home. This approach seems to work for us in almost all cases.
That is the universal attitude one must have in all of Latin America.

We had lunch their today. Still very good, great service, and a great value! The fresh shrimp spring rolls and Pho are still great! You do need to add spice as you like it. They were a bit on the quiet side. Totally worth return visits!
Oh....a good option for vegetarians.

Short of having your tank back up into your house, is there any other warning signs ones septic needs pumping? What size generally are these tanks?
Thanks

Very cool! Tesla, cutting edge. That's $11,700 for a 1600 sq foot home today.

They also sell distilled water by the gallon, but expensive!

We had a couple of 10 or 15 minute outages in Alto last night but the UPS provided power to the internet modems and TV, so Hockey Night in Canada continued uninterrupted.
We also have a UPS that is good for 2 hours battery backup. We have internet modems, TV, Routers, Roku box, and security cameras and they have all stayed on for the stated 2 hours. One time when the power was out for 5 hours the UPS lasted 4 hours! Bought it at Price Smart 2 years ago. Worth every penny.
The thing about the power going off and on for just a few minutes is concerning. We do have surge protectors for everything.

This is the history link to Fenosa:
This statement from their website is interesting: We have reduced the time of interruptions for our own cause from 1998 to date by more than 87%, achieving the best quality of service results in the Central American region.
Wonder where that is?

This tracking site with map can tell folks who are relocating to the U.S. where they're least likely to experience power outages.
There are still over 350,000 without electricity in Puerto Rico.
That's a very interesting site.

Interesting.
There is a lot of new road and road improvements projects. The Wednesday hike this morning was up to the end of Palmira road at the rancho and 3 way split. For a mile or two, the road is under going grading work. Lots of big heavy trucks. The picture is at the top looking across the canyon down by Potrerillos where the roads will eventually link up. The truck in the photo is on the new road. Above it is a lot of drainage work.
