We tried to attend this presention by Penny Ripple re "Trips around Panama" in the BCP this morning. Every chair was occupied by the time we arrived. People were standing in the exit aisle. A suggestion was that we sit on the floor in front of the stage or the steps in the audience area, but we declined. (I would have needed help to stand up after the talks ended).

We left home early for the program; the real problem was a white pick-up truck in the parking area blocking both the entrance and exit. Several cars had to back-up, vehicles needed to halt off the bridge; some managed to turn sharply to avoid a near miss. We finally got past this congestion and found a parking spot on a side street. All of this took the bigger part of an hour plus listening/talking to a bunch of angry people about this situation.

Sorry Penny. Hope the program was successful. Maybe next time for us.

Nothing succeeds like success. The person selecting the topics for the Tuesday talks is doing a fantastic job.

The theatre isn't big enough for some of the audiences that certain speakers attract.

Blocking the exit aisles from the theatre is probably more dangerous, but less noticeable, than blocking the exit in the parking lot.

Is the designated Exit at the Oasis end of the parking area functioning or are some people still trying to leave through the Enter Only gate?

Yes, Keith, the designated exit at the Oasis end of the parking area was blocked by that large Toyato pick-up. Other car owners were sort of practicing "free parking" in the lot. We felt sorry for the attendent (Frank?). Poor man was doing his best to guide the traffic; not an easy task.

We managed to leave the premises without damage. Guess it was a good day  after all.

Jillian just told me that the Police showed up just before 11:00 a.m. and tagged a lot of illegally parked cars.

I wanted to hear the talk today at BPC theatre and so went there. Horrible mess in the parking lot. Some turkey with a white truck seems to think he owned the place and bloced the exit. What a mess. I saw Pennys comment about the rude people in the auditorium, but it does not get close to the safety and health issues related to this turkey. I hear one guy in the parking lot suggest we should just have it towed away. I kind of agree. People could only back out of the parking lot, which caused a real problem for everyone, plus those who are not good at backing up in tight situations. The parking guy Frank was doing the best he could with this mess. Here's the pic taken with my phone. You can see another car behind the truck starting its backup but then another car came in shortly after this photo was taken and things got dicey.

BCP has two paid attendants in the parking lot. However, they have a hard time dealing with an individual who abandons his vehicle in the exit and chases the person he was angry with into the facility. Altogether, BCP pays 4 people to manage the parking lot and the market. Maybe charging a dollar to enter the lot is a good idea.
