Alan Nilsen
This morning, Tuesday June 20th, I drove by the BCP during the Tuesday market. I looked like almost every vehicle parked outside had a ticket on the windshield. There is one particular "tranista" traffic officer who seems to dislike Gringos. Her other favorite spot is Sugar and Spice where she tickets cars parked in the wrong direction on the side of the street. I did not see her in action, so I am only speculating that this is her work. Who ever did it, there is going to be a big crowd of angry folks down in David paying fines. Edited June 20, 2017 by Alan Nilsen
Bonnie
So let them be angry. They should know the traffic laws and, for heaven's sake, there have been enough warnings about how not to park at BCP. And it's downright dangerous around Sugar 'n' Spice because of the poor parking, largely by gringos. If gringos are violating the traffic laws, it's unfair to attribute a ticket to an officer who "dislikes gringos." I suspect it's going to take tickets, trips to David, and fines to bring some folks to their senses. Expats are always complaining about the driving habits of Panamanians, but maybe they should take a good look at themselves. Penny
The basic rules for parking at the BCP is you cannot park with your wheel(s) on the sidewalk and you cannot park with your wheel(s) in the driving lane. As Bonnie says, there have been lots of warnings about this.
Marcelyn
Penny and Bonnie are correct. Parking rules and the police issuing tickets to illegal divers near BCP have been posted on this forum several times. Also information about arrows on the payment indicating turn requirements has been available here. It seems to me that the police are being more diligent with enforcing the rules of the roadway. Perhaps this behavior is influenced by all the vehicle accidents.
