A good friend who lives and works there where we surf, broke his neck surfing. He broke his arm at the same time. We are starting an initiative there to teach first aid, have various first aid stations and as well produce a pamphlet for the local hotels on safe surfing. It can be real dangerous there! Our friends is not paralyzed which is a miracle in that he fractured the 2nd neck vertebrae. It was 6 hours to Punta Pacifica where he had surgery on his neck and his arm. There is no doctor in this town. Sona is an hour away. In an ambulance from there his head was never fully immobilized with sand bags and tape ! Basic First Aide and good judgement was lacking by the very ambulance people who transported him.
