Public employees to receive 13th month payment this coming Monday

13th month payments for employees equate to forced savings plans and put a lot of money into the economy during the month of December. In Costa Rica this is called aguinaldo, btw.

It's my understanding that these payments are made on the 15th of the month. Has the government just decided to give them out early? Are those of us in the private sector expected to do the same?

That being said, many businesses pay it before the normal payday on the 15th.

One of the upsides of paying the 13th month aguinaldo before the 15th here is that folks can celebrate Mother's Day with ca$h on hand. Look what happens when the cheques don't arrive.
