Marcelyn
Getting off our arriving plane and walking to the baggage pick-up location at Tocumen, I stepped into the Duty Free La Riviera store.. Area was crowded with shoppers/lookers but I made my selection and moved to the cashier. She announced "Cash Only No credit card". Finally produced enough cash to pay for my items and squeezed out of the store. Yesterday, here in Boquete, my hairdresser who has accepted credit cards for the past two years, told me "Cash Only". Anyone else experiencing this situation where a credit card is no longer accepted in Panama?
Keith Woolford
Marcelyn, I believe you were unable to use your credit card at La Riviera because of restrictions put in place by the U.S. Treasury Dept. on that company's activities. Not sure what happened in Boquete. Only your hairdresser knows for sure. Edited July 3, 2016 by Keith Woolford
Twin Wolf Technology Group
I have had this happen from time to time when the Internet or phone lines are down in the local establishment. They can not contact the credit card processing system. This may have been the case for your hairdresser.
