NewsLady
Over the last eight years, Rodny Moreno Fuentes and his RodnyDirect Chiriqui Helpline service has provided Boquete and Chiriqui with a unique and valuable community service. Whether it's roadside assistance anywhere in Panama, a medical emergency, translation service or reporting a power outage, Rodny has served our expat community like few others. With very limited use of his arms and legs, mobility is one of the most difficult issues for him to deal with. Just before his last birthday, Rodny made a birthday wish for a new, modern type of electric wheelchair that would greatly enhance his mobility at home and even allow him to travel and get around town in a practical way. Within a day, at a meeting of the Boquete Romeos (Retired Old Men Eating Out) group, Tom Bott, who has been a generous contributor to the Handicapped Foundation, immediately stepped forward to grant Rodny his wish as a parting donation, as he and Carolyn have now moved to England. Rodny would also like to thank Bud and Marcelyn Huber, Paul and Welthy Myers and all of you who donated to ACCBoquete on his behalf for helping to make his birthday wish a reality. A few days ago, his wheelchair was finally delivered and customized for his needs. And what a wheelchair it is - The Tesla of wheelchairs - lithium battery, 110 pounds, ten mile range, snaps apart into manageable pieces that can be carried in even a small car. With his phone, he can call it from another part of the house and bring it to where he needs it. We can all look forward to seeing more of Rodny in person now and continuing to benefit from his service for many years to come. Happy Birthday Rodny, from all of your many friends in Boquete and Chiriqui
