Moderators Moderator_02 Posted June 13, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 13, 2019 Quote Panama sets date for 2020 national census Posted 12/06/2019 Panama will hold a national census on Sunday May 24, 2020 at an estimated cost cost of $35.8 million said Comptroller General, Federico Humbert , on Wednesday, June 12. It is estimated that 120 census takers will be displaced throughout the country. and the delivery of preliminary results is set for July 2020. "The goal is to have a certainty in the quantification of the population and the number of existing homes in the national territory," said Humbert. "In addition to obtaining the necessary data to make Panama continue to grow," Our nation has a lot of experience but on this occasion we want the census to have the greatest depth and quality" https://www.newsroompanama.com/business/panama-sets-date-for-2020-national-census
Jim Bondoux
We were counted in the last census (May 2010). No one was supposed to leave the structure in which they had spent the night until they had been counted, and until the census taker had placed a colored sticker on the structure. You then had a paper slip evidencing your having been counted. There were road checkpoints throughout the country and woe to anyone caught out and about without their census slip. One could show up during the preceding week at the local census office (it was somewhere in the Feria grounds) and be counted, and given a paper slip, so that if you had a major inconvenience on census Sunday of being house-bound until counted, there was a countermeasure. I suppose there will be similar measures taken next May.
Keith Woolford
Have to wonder if anyone will try to alter census questions for political reasons. Edited June 13, 2019 by Keith Woolford

But what I really remember best is that the sticker they left was impossible to remove from our wrought iron gate, leading ultimately to our having to repaint the whole d—n thing. Jim Bondoux
Article in today's LA ESTRELLA reports that the government contracting authority has rejected all three bids for census-related equipment, and that the census will need to be postponed as a consequence. Bud
Oops. It is not like this was a short-fused requirement.
