Bajareque
Have friends coming for a month who would like to bring their dog. What's the deal with quarantine of pets? Where do they get information? Is it possible for the animal to spend its quarantine time at home? Thanks, Ted

TwoSailors
Great info here: http://expatfreedom.com/how-to-transport-your-dog-from-the-usa-to-panama/ The short answer is: As long as ALL their paperwork is in order, they can pay the home quarantine fee, and take the dog with them to where they are staying. JudyS
Do not - I repeat - Do not bring a pet for only a month. You will spend the last 10 days of your vacation going through the process of taking the pet out of Panama . You have to have an export permit to leave with a pet. A very bad idea for being here only a month. Get a house sitter or board the dog/cat.
Bonnie
The quarantine is in home--at least it was when we came with two dogs nine years ago. It incurs a cost, however, as does every step of the process from the paperwork in the States (all of which has to be done within a 10-day time frame of departure), to transport fees, to fees to get into Panama and fees to get out. I agree with Judy. It's a very unwise choice. Advise your visitors to find a house sitter or a reputable kennel. TwoSailors
I agree... and it's also expensive. Cheaper to get a house sitter or a dog day care that has over night boarding.
