The Panamanian provinces of Herrera (Chitré) and Chiriquí (David) will be the epicenters of the world’s youth baseball starting tomorrow Friday until August 19, when the crown comes into play of the under 15 World Cup.

Twelve countries will compete for the crown of the category, which at the moment is in the hands of the Cuban team, which is the two-time champion of the category.

The U15 Baseball World Tournament, comprising 50 games, is divided into two groups: group A will play in David, western province of Chiriquí and Group B in the city of Chitré, central province of Herrera.

The teams playing in group A are: Taiwan, the United States, China, Brazil, Germany and Panama, while in Group B: Japan, Korea, Cuba, Australia, Holland and the Dominican Republic.

The first day of competitions will match the national teams of Brazil and Germany, these last world champions of the category, at the Kenny Serracín stadium, in David.

In that same venue, China, the "wild card" of the competition, will play against the United States, champion of America and Panama, host of the tournament, will debut against Taiwan, the second best team in Asia in the Under 15 category.

In Chitre, at the Rico Cedeño stadium, that same day, the continental champions of Asia and Oceania, Japan and Australia will play. Then, Holland, the European runner-up, and Cuba, defending world champions, will face each other.

Cubans will arrive in Panama to keep the titles won during the latest versions, in Mexico 2014 and Japan 2016.

The Caribbean people come to justice with a fairly compact team, according to their strategist, Dany Valdespino,

The first round in the city of Chitré ends with the match between the Dominican Republic, the runners-up of America and South Africa, the best team of the African continent.

After the Opening Round, which will consist of 30 games, the first three titles of group A will face the first three names of Group B in a three-day Super Round at the Kenny Serracín Stadium in David.

The teams that did not reach a level between the top six, three per group, will play the consolation round, which will take the seventh place to twelve and will take place at the Rico Cedeño Stadium in Chitré.

For the gold medal of the tournament the best teams of the super round will play at the Kenny Serracín stadium, in David, Chiriqui, from 18:00 local time (23:00 GMT). The third and fourth place will be decided by the Match for the Bronze Medal that will be played in the same place at 13:00 local time (20:00 GMT).

The president of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), Riccardo Fraccari, said at the beginning of the tournament, that the U15 World Cup "is an example of the geographical footprint" of the scope of the world’s baseball.

"This world tournament, with the participation of countries from all corners of the world, also shows the geographical footprint of our sport, the connection with youth and the bright future of connecting with millions of players, followers and fans in the next decade," said Fraccari.
