For Bob G.
The messages were primarily about membership (after filling out the form and submitting it) with an additional inquiry around the medical service. I believe this was before you sent out your personal email. Apparently I should not have mixed the two topics in one email. Nevertheless, 22 days later I have yet to receive a response from anyone. Efficiency Credibility rating in the tank, Bob. And you're correct: were I to have an emergency, I would not send a message. My momma didn't raise no dummy!

Bob!
I've sent two email inquiries to the AAC address (the first on December 8) around Membership and the new Medical plan. As of today, neither has been responded to. I remember reading on one of the extranjero forums a while ago that people were complaining about lack of responsiveness on the part of AAC. Now I understand why. Lack of or slow response time = lack of organization and/or overall ineffectiveness. If you can't get simple stuff together, how you gonna serve me when I need timely assistance?

From reading the last notice sent out by Rodny Direct, it appears as though there are fees for the services of "Keep It Simple Panama"; i.e, $25 per hour or $15, if you are a RD member. Apparently this is a marketing tool to get you to make a contact, otherwise the fees would be published. The Irma phone number is also in the last RD notice.
Here's the bulk of the notice:

For immediate release
Rodny Direct Member Services announces:
Health Discount Benefits for Rodny Direct members and their families
Hospital Mae Lewis is offering Rodny Direct members a 20% discount on all hospital services, such as room rates, MRIs, ultrasounds, CAT scans, X-rays, lab work and more. It costs you nothing above your normal $80 annual Rodny Direct membership.
This 20% discount is valid for all Rodny Direct members regardless of pre-exiting conditions or age. There is a 22% discount on the list price of medications. The discounts include the normal jubilado discount. But for those who are not jubilado, the full 20% is in effect.
These discounts at Mae Lewis hospital begin January 1, 2017 and will be reviewed as to success in April 2017. Mae Lewis reserves the right to cancel the program on May 1, 2017. However, if the program succeeds as we expect, it will be continued thereafter.
You may know that Rodny works closely with Irma Castillo Smith from Keep It Simple Panama to put this program in place and help manage hospital issues. Her consulting fee is $25 per hour, discounted to $15 for Rodny Direct members with the first hour free. Irma can also work for you as an advocate to obtain discounts from physicians who are not currently part of this plan.
Rodny is not authorized to publish the Mae Lewis price list, but if you need prices for procedures, call Irma or Gloria. They have all the current information.
This discount program is the first that we are announcing. It is possible because of your power as part of the Rodny Direct membership group. It costs you nothing above your normal $80 annual Rodny Direct membership.
Summary:
- Hospital Mae Lewis - All hospital-provided services are discounted for Rodny Direct members - including pharmacy, MRI and CAT scans, room rates etc.
- No additional charge to RD members
- Covers your entire family under your $80 per year Rodny Direct membership
- Class A facilities, English-speaking staff
- No age or pre-existing condition restrictions
- In association with Keep It Simple Panama, your personal medical advocate if you so desire
- Simple, secure, professional online registration - no paperwork or Spanish contract to sign

In-N-Out Burger for me !

My understanding is that the jubilado discount is only applied to the direct ticket price and not to the taxes or fees (some of those are variable like fuel, departure/entrance taxes etc.). So the discount is NOT 25% of the total fare.

I periodically go into the Boquete office and have Carmen, the cashier, put $10 or $20 into my phone. She'll get your name, number, do the paperwork, enter into her computer and give you a receipt. I get a message on my phone of the date and minutes added.

My favorite of his is "Suzanne".

Last time they closed, you were caught unaware by finding a sign on the door and wished (paraphrasing here) they would have publicized it in advance. I said they did - on Facebook - which prompted a lengthy response. Just letting you know so you weren't surprised again.

And I don't have a clue why they ask in their"poll" what bank you use.

They did post on one of the FB group pages.

That was the case with the other local forwarders I've used. But that has not been the case with eShop.

I had one of the detained packages. It was delivered Monday. Intact. eShop staff were nothing but sympathetic, courteous and professional in their responses to my inquiries. Kudos to them for being calm and patient and informative throughout what must be an ongoing nightmare.

Not very often when I peruse internet sites does Shakespeare come to mind...but after reading this entire thread, "Much Ado About Nothing" comes to mind.

Apparently some people on Ning don't understand that only the packages that came in during the week of June 20 were held by customs. Packages forwarded before or after that week were not affected. They seem to be negatively singling out eShop as the problem. It was, as Karinthia's message clearly spells out, every forwarders problem for that week only. The issue now is getting all those packages (bet there were over a thousand) now released from Panama Aduana to their home locations.

Love my Berkey! And I got it through Stacy, who was terrific to deal with.

Has anyone seen Tiger Balm for sale locally or in Panama City?
