  6. Palo Alto Neighbors! We would appreciate your attendance at this meeting to have a discussion on the crime activity happening around us. We are new to the neighborhood arrived about 2 weeks ago and we can learn much from those of you who are established residents. We would like to utilize this time wisely; have an open discussion about what action we need to take when crime comes to our front door; prevention methods and protection devices. But more importantly, having a united neighborhood, a neighborhood that communicates is a powerful tool. This would also be a good time to get to know our neighbors. Coffee and water will be available for self-service provided by The Inn at Palo Alto. We look forward to meeting each of you. -- It's always a Beautiful Day in Boquete! 8. It would not have been possible without all our wonderful volunteers! We would like to recognize Annie O'Mohondro, Debby Banker, Anita Hall, Leah Bondad-Polack, Be'len Luna, Lynne Fox, Jan Mulcrone, Judy Starrett, and Johnnie Fernandez for showing up almost each and every week from the beginning of June until the end of October. Their energy, willingness, and enthusiasm made this art program the best, most enjoyable one the library has offered to date. Thank you from the bottom of each and every child's heart... All 40 of them!!! And most of all thank you from your very grateful co-coordinator, Mary Ellen Watts. The program, the art we all created, and the enjoyment which was so obvious in each child's smile was more than I had dreamed possible. Thanks also go to Boquete Artworks and Bid 4 Boquete for the money they donated toward the purchase of art materials. Be on the look-out for next year’s program. We are going try a new approach. Please pass on to all those whom you know, how rewarding, and fun volunteering with the children of Boquete can be! Have a wonderful Holiday Season, Mary Ellen Watts Art Program Coordinator Biblioteca de Boquete

  15. On Sunday October 25, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 181 animals: 88 dogs and 93 cats. While this was not as big a clinic as planned, it was plenty big and went very well. This year at several clinics, the number of cats brought in equaled or surpassed the number of dogs; the cat trappers have been hard at work. Our year total is 1907 animals: 1062 dogs and 842 cats, the percentage for cats having gone up considerably from prior years. Our total for 10 years is now 9577 animals; we should hit 10,000 by mid-next year! Hard to believe that we have completed a full year in our new facility. Every time that we walk into our new home, we are all filled with such gratitude and pride that we really have this place and it is ours. We are so thankful for our donors who believed in us and helped us to fulfill this dream. We are grateful to our volunteers and vets and food providers and collectors and friends in Boquete and the surrounding area. We are humbled and amazed and truly thankful for what can be accomplished when a group of people work as a team for a common goal. We thank each and every one of you who have worked with us this year; it is such an honor to know such fine and caring people who give so generously of themselves to make the lives of the animals in Boquete so much healthier and safer. We will start up again on January 31, 2016. We look forward to seeing you all then. Together we are making a difference.
