  1. For all you folks who missed the very well received Tuesday Talk given by Darrel Eash (and for those there who asked to see the slides again), here's a link to the power point presentation. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ij5153kx66mysa/Camels%20and%20Chameleons.pdf?dl=0 Next week we're presenting Hospice. No matter how often this talk is given, it's always a sell-out (tickets cost a whopping $1) and there's always new information presented to us by the hospice people. Please make an effort to come. We're not always able to send the information to folks who miss the talk.

  4. My wife about four months ago adopted two Chihuahua dogs from a woman who is moving to Spain in January 2017. These dogs are brother (Opie) and sister (Hopie), have been fixed/sterilized and three weeks ago visited the vet for annual checkup and deworming. These puppies are now 10 months old. They are paper trained. Great watch dogs. Will warm up to strangers after getting to know them. After we adopted these two loving, friendly and very active puppies, friends of ours elected to move back to the US for health reasons. They had to leave their 11 year old Westie. He has a heart condition and needs extreme care and watching. We regret to have to seek adoption for these puppies. John & Bobi McGann John’s cell 6869-1623

  6. Beginning on Saturday, December 31, probably sometime in the afternoon the fireworks will start and will continue on well into the night. Please protect your pets by bringing them inside or keeping them contained in a secure location. As we have seen from just this past week over Christmas, many dogs made their great escape from fear of the loud noises. As far as we are aware none have been found yet. Please learn from others; this is a frightening time for most of these animals and they depend on you to keep them safe. ARF is a small non-profit animal organization dedicated to the rescue, care, foster and adoption of the unwanted and neglected animals in Boquete and the surrounding areas. Start the new year out right with a trip to the area's biggest flea market and garage sale. Chiriqui Storage is located 1.5 km north of the Terpel gas station in Dolega.

  10. A good number of people have signed up for the Hospital Cooperativo medical discount plan (PLAN SOLIDARIO), but Tuesday is not the best day for some folks, particularly the vendors at the Tuesday Market. We have arranged to be at the Boquete Library on the third floor this Thursday, December 29 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. You can review information about the plan on Boquete.ning.com. This same announcement will be posted on .ning, and the original plan announcement will be somewhere close to the top in the Forum section. It has an English translation of the plan contract. Though it is not easy to find, there is a .pdf copy of our PowerPoint presentation linked on Chiriqui.life If you would like to have a copy of the presentation sent to you, send a request to rhgusn@yandex.com not later than 6:00 PM Wednesday. Please use "PRESENTATION REQUEST" as the subject line. Cost for the medical discount plan is $150 per year ($125 for other members of the same family). Costs for services at Hospital cooperativo and the doctors there are already low, and the plan discounts make them lower. Please bring cash or your checkbook and a copy of the cedula, pensionado card or passport for each person. The copy maching at the library is not working. We'll try to bring a copier along, but the process works faster if you bring copies with you.
  11. There have been notices for several missing dogs since the Christmas fireworks. today on the way to David, just a little north of the Brisas Boquetenas main entrance, there was a dead, mangled, black dog on the southbound, west side of the street. Tragic and sad to see. If someone is still looking for a black, or dark dog. Looked to be medium to large, you might want to take a ride to get a look-see. This morning, the mangled body looked very fresh. My condolences to whomever lost their dog in this tragic way.
  12. RECOGNIZE THIS SMALL DOG? WE HAVE FOUND IN HIGH BOQUETE, PLEASE COMMUNICATE TO 6315-8872, WE ARE CARING FOR IT.
  13. Urgently needed foster for this dog. She is in the Los Molinos community and we are not sure if she is currently pregnant, or has had her pups yet. She needs to be seen by a vet, and we need to find a safe place for her. If you can help, please contact us. ARF supplies all food and medical needs for the rescues that are taken in by fosters. We are fearful that if she does not have a safe place to go soon in the next couple of days that she will need to be removed from the property…..and then it is left to fate what will happen to her. 17. Once again we have sweet corn available. The ears are small (4 to 6 inches long), but sweet and tasty. This is our second attempt to grow sweet corn in our greenhouse. The ears are smaller because their development was in the middle of the several weeks of rain and little sun. I will be on the road of the side, somewhere outside the entrance of the BCP starting at 9 a.m. or a little earlier on Tuesday December 27. I should have over a couple of hundred ears. My price is $0.50 per ear. I will also have a limited amount of heirloom tomatoes as they are just now beginning to mature.
