I know several people who say ACODECO worked wonders in resolving their problems. I also know that several restaurants in Boquete that initially refused to honor the jubilado discount now do so after being reported to ACODECO. Sorry that it didn't work well for Dottie.

ACODECO, the government agency that enforces these discounts and to whom you can complain about them, will be the presenters at the Tuesday BCP meeting at 10:30 on April 3. They will explain the procedure for making a complaint and how they go about enforcing the discount law. Come early as this promises to be a popular meeting.

He was advised by many "in the know" people to leave Panama before the trial but he was a stubborn man and chose to stay. A tough decision to make. Some have fled rather than face the Panamanian justice system.

There was an accident in front of my house last Monday. Would anybody be surprised if I said it involved a taxi that was going way too fast and attempted to pass another car on the right? Of course 10 taxi drivers stopped to help and I'm sure most of them were solicited to be witnesses. Very lucky that nobody was hurt. There were a mom and baby passengers in the taxi and it's a miracle they didn't go through the windshield.

The 3rd Boquete matriarch to pass away in a matter of months. Elba was a friend of both Inga Collins and Cecilia MacIntyre, both of them have passed away in the last six months. Elba was the subject of a Podcast created by Bud and Marcelyn which can be heard on this site.

You're right. I'd forgotten about the Pianista. I love the calzones. I usually take half home. Once they gave me a large by mistake and it made at least 3 meals.

Speaking of calzones, Papa Rico's has pretty good calzones. Not good pizza; but pretty good calzones.

The Panamanians call Saka Saka "Suka Caca"

My vegetarian daughter is coming for a visit. She eats dairy products but no fish or meat. Looking for suggestions for restaurants that have a couple of vegetarian options on the menu.

Thanks for all suggestions. I've heard the braised vegetables and polenta are excellent at the Oasis. Sadly, the Oasis Restaurant will probably close on March 21 unless Anayansi can find someone to take it over.
