The Most Important Thing I Was Ever Asked To Do

Michael C

... was to start teaching my fellow human beings how to"Stretch & Flex" for superb long term health...
That was December 28, 2001.
This December I celebrate15 years of teaching AND my 65th Birthday...
I am continuing to share this simple and effective "Stretch & Flex" practice

This is Your Invitation to

“Get By With a Little Help From Your Friends”

~The methods taught are gentle and easy, conforming to individual differences in muscle tension, flexibility, and age.

~You do not need to be in top physical condition or have specific athletic skills.

~No matter who you are the same techniques apply.

—BOB ANDERSON, author of Stretching for Everyday Fitness and worked with the Broncos, the Jets, the Dodgers, etc...

“We can learn a lot from animals. Watch a cat or dog. They instinctively know how to stretch.

They do so spontaneously and responsibly, never over-stretching,

as they naturally and continually tune up muscles they will have to use.”

A Note From Michael...

From the age 31-49 I was a die-hard runner. I started running to lose an unwanted extra 65 pounds I put on from age 30-31.  Over the years, the consequences and physical damage to my body from running were devastating. But like most of us have done at one time or another, I persisted under the false belief that I should and could "push through the pain".

The "no-pain-no-gain" theory we were taught is probably in the top 2 of the worst advice in Western civilization that was ever promoted to maintain our physical health - ESPECIALLY when we pass age 35. If you don't believe me, just look around and ask a few questions of your fellow humans over the age of 50.  These stories contribute to about 50% of why doctors are still in business.

In the summer of 1999 (at age 48) I began my stretching/yoga practice by learning the Tibetan 5 Rites. After discovering the benefits and the transformation this had on my health, my joints, flexibility, strength, healing old injuries, etc., I attended and completed a 9 week training with Bikram's Yoga College of India.  I immediately began teaching full time.  Since then I have taught various Stretching & yoga styles as well as branching out to Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga. Other trainings I have completed include a 200HR RYT with Tiffany Cruikshank of yogamedicine.com.  Then following Paul Grilley Yin techniques, I earned a certification in Yin Yoga with Debbi Atkins-Davis 1000HR RYT.

June 30 of this year I moved to Boquete from Las Vegas, Nevada. For the last 8 years in Las Vegas I taught  public classes at various studios throughout the city, and to private clients.  My teachings range from Stretching and Assisted Stretching as taught by Bob Anderson and Aaron Mattes, to gentle yoga and chair yoga, and all the way up to more aggressive styles.  I have created a 60 minute yoga fusion class, combining several yoga disciplines.  For lack of an official name of this style of teaching, I am simply calling it Yoga Fusion 60.

If you are new to Stretching, I believe you will really like my "Stretching for EveryBODY" 3 part clinic.  If you are more intermediate or advanced, let me know and I'll fill you in on my other new classes here at The Haven.  If you require private sessions due to physical conditions, we can discuss that if you'd like to.

Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have questions. See you in a clinic!
