Moderators Moderator_02 Posted April 6, 2018 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2018 It appears that Amazon Web Services (a commercial internet service used by many large enterprises and governmental agencies) is getting into the automated, on-line translation business. The "buzz" that we are hearing is that it will provide "high fidelity" translation services, including English to/from Spanish, and a hand full of other languages. Since many of us depend on computer assisted translations, this could be a good thing for those of us who are still not fully competent with the Spanish language. Quote Amazon Translate is Now Generally Available Posted On: Apr 4, 2018 Amazon Translate is now available for all customers. Powered by deep-learning technologies, Amazon Translate is a neural machine translation service that delivers fast, high-quality, and affordable language translation. Amazon Translate’s translation engines are trained on a wide variety of data across different domains to produce high-quality translations for various content. Currently, Amazon Translate supports translation between English and six major languages – Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Arabic, and Portuguese. Six additional languages will be supported in the coming months, including Japanese, Russian, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Czech. With Amazon Translate, language is no longer a barrier to discovering information or connecting with each other. The service can automatically identify the source language when one is not formally specified. This helps to make Amazon Translate well suited for use cases that call for real-time, on-demand translation of user-generated content, such as live chat, online reviews, and forum content. You can also use Amazon Translate to enable language-independent processing, such as translating social media feeds into English for further data analysis across a multitude of languages. Whether it’s just a few words or even large batches of documents, Amazon Translate scales easily as your translation needs grow. Amazon Translate is available in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and EU (Ireland) regions.
