Hello Everyone,

We hope that you are doing great this day.  We are very excited to welcome the change of seasons, the paving of the destroyed streets, and the celebration of Panama's independence with civilization's oldest musical instrument group, the percussions.  I always find it incredible how transformative this town becomes during the month of November.  Costumes, reenactments, parades, music, and festivities fill the streets and the sound of independence can be heard for miles away one drum beat at a time.  If you've lived here long enough then you already know that business as usual does not exist during this month (or the next).  If you are new in Panama be patient, things will get back to normal sometime in January.

For me, October tends to remind me of Autumn in Houston.  A time in which the days got shorter and the nights got cooler.  I can remember the smell of the furnace throughout the house as we turned on the heater for the first time since last winter.  A change in wardrobe brought out that pea coat that's been stored away with the flannels and the turtlenecks.   It seemed that the local playgrounds got a little bit quieter and as the merry-go-rounds would ominously spin (being pushed by the gentle Fall winds), the rusty metal would sing a Winters song.  The season brought a strange foreboding that could only be described as an Autumn afternoon in Derry, Maine in 1986.  Then again perhaps I read too many King novels as a kid.  Be that as it may some of the fondest memories I had as a child stemmed from the Autumn season, particularly the food.  Pumpkin, butternut squash, apples, sweet potatoes, sweet corn, sage, yeast rolls, deep fried turkey, and the list goes on and on.  I reminisce this morning to share with you our upcoming Fall goodies.

This year we are planning a fall festival of food that will transport you back to your childhood dinner table.  Remember Rhubarb and Strawberry Cobblers and Sweet Potato Pies, remember yeasty dinner rolls and potatoes au gratin?  As you might already know we are not locked in to any specific menu and  have a blast week to week cooking food favorites from all over the world.  In 6 years of doing this our menu literally changes every week and to date we still offer the widest variety of international food anywhere in Panama.

Here is what your neighbors are saying:

"We just ate your salmon cakes for dinner.  They were wonderful.  I think I will just buy 7 dinners each week and forget about cooking anymore!  We are amazed at how you can create such a variety of food and all of it is delicious!" (Bonnie)

"Wow.  We had your latest batch of sauerkraut tonight, with Frank's bratwurst.  I have to tell you, that was the best sauerkraut I've ever had!  And that includes what I've eaten in Germany!"  (Jane)

"Just had my first serving of the Ziti....OMG! It's off the hook good!!

You have no idea how glad I am to support your business....the food is always awesome!" (Michael)

"My husband and I tried your food for the first time last week (gumbo and tikka masala) - so delicious! You've convinced us we can't be trusted to cook dinner on our own." (Leigha)

If you'd like to get on our weekly mailer please click this link below.  We send a menu out every week and would be honored to have you a part of family.  Who do we appeal to?  This is a great question as we don't appeal to everyone.  Our business model appeals to those who are looking to take a break from the kitchen and not break the bank.  We also appeal to single men and women who get hungry from time to time and don't feel like cooking.  If you are on a budget and would like to do meal planning we are perfectly suited for you.  We also appeal to husbands whose wives have left them here all alone in Panama.  We appeal to anyone who is frustrated with sourcing ingredients and we appeal to those of you who miss the food from back home.  We tend to also be popular with those who really want to get the most out of their retirement.  Remember," We cook, so you don't have to".  All of our meals are prepackaged and portioned for 2 adults.  If you happen to have a teenagers appetite then you might enjoy an entire meal by yourself, but either way the convenience of heating and eating with no mess is hard to beat.  Click below to join the 2 Guys & A Cooler Experience.
