Discount Medical Plan Sign-Ups This Week At The Tuesday Market

Alto al Crimen will have a table at the Tuesday Maarket on June 20 for sign-ups for the Hospital Cooperative Discount Medical Plan.

 

Hospital Cooperativo is the only cooperative medicine, non-profit hospital in Panama. It has served David and Chiriqui for over thirty years with good medical care at the lowest prices. Through membership in the discount plan, you can save 25% to 50% off the already low prices for hospital services, doctors' fees and prescription medications at the pharmacy

 

You can find more detailed information about the plan and read an English translation of the simple contract in the Forum section of Boquete.ning.com. The words "Alto al Crimen" appear in the subject lines of the forum posts. They should all be on the first two or three pages of the Forum posts.

 

Cost for the discount plan for one year are $150 for individuals or the first person in a household and $125 for other persons in the same household. For the mid-year enrollments between now and July 11, 2017, the fees will be $225 and $$188 respectively because they will include payments for membership until January 1, 2019. This will save both you and Alto al Crimen the hassle of re-enrollment in December 2017-January 2018

 

To enroll you will need to bring a clear, legible copy of the cedula, permanent residency card or passport (in that order of preference) for each individual to be enrolled. And you will need to complete a short, simple data form with name, address and contact information. Payment may be made in cash (Bring exact change if possible) or by check payable to FUNDACION ALTO AL CRIMEN. Checks on US banks will take about three weeks to clear and there will be a commensurate delay in issuance off wallet ID cards for the plan.

 

If you are currently paying high medical insurance premiums and have a high deductible, you can stretch your deductible considerably through this plan. You could even decide to put the high premium into your own bank account every year as a savings account for high medical expenses and use the Hospital Cooperativo medical discount plan for routine and minor medical expenses. This could save you a lot of money.
