Keith Woolford
There is an 'Extreme High" UV warning for tomorrow which is common these days. Use of solar protectors is advised. Hats and long sleeves are always a good idea. Yesterday I wore some open sandals for the first time in forever and fried the topsides of my feet quickly. Moderators Moderator_02 Posted August 24, 2017 Moderators Share Posted August 24, 2017 Quote UV rays warning post at Amador Posted on August 23, 2017 in Panama Post Views: 90 A PROJECT to raise awareness of the dangers of solar radiation was unveiled on Wednesday. Aug, 23 at the Bio Museo on the Amador Causeway by the Panamanian Association of Dermatology The Solmaphor, is a vertical apparatus that measures UV levels. It shows five colors, each representing a different intensity, purple and red being the most powerful; Orange and yellow, intermediate and green, the most acceptable. It also indicates how you should protect your skin, according to the solar radiation that the equipment shows. The Biomuseo said it wants to sensitize the population about the damage caused by pollution and the devastation of our forests, which has resulted in a decrease in the ozone layer and an increase in the levels of ultraviolet rays. This has impacted reproduction rates of some species and in humans has increased the incidence of skin cancer. http://www.newsroompanama.com/news/panama/uv-rays-warning-post-amador

Today's UV alert from SINAPROC for the Chiriqui Highlands and Lowlands predicts a UV index of 9 to 10, which means eritema or burning of the skin can begin in 9 to 13 minutes. Keith Woolford
High UV alert again today. The dangers seem less noticeable because of the wind, but hats, sunscreen or other forms of protection are in order. Skin can be bacon baking in less than 15 minutes.
