Gordon Bakke
The most important roadway in Panama is the inter-american highway. Recently, the eastbound span over the Rio Piedra near Concepcion was finally opened to little fanfare. This was the second time in the past 10 years that half of this bridge was not usable. I had been wondering how long these latest repairs had taken when I re-discovered today an article in Lee Zeltzer's Boquete guide. Four years. FOUR YEARS. Thanks heaven the other side held. http://www.boqueteguide.com/?p=7120
Keith Woolford
These photos were posted on Twitter during the last big storm on November 6th. The old westbound section of the bridge had to be closed for safety reasons. This is a very wide, shallow river.
Gordon Bakke
Wow. Keith, driving by, it seems that there is a dam below the bridge. Is there one upriver, as well?
Keith Woolford
Hydroelectrics upstream, I believe. I think the pic is of the one below the bridge https://twitter.com/MirandaR_Kiad/status/662805679267164160
