No need to worry that they are GMO.  I googled this and found this interesting info about papayas:

"A papaya tree can either be 100% female, 100% male, or anywhere in between.  The trees that are purely female produce seedless fruit, and the fruit will have more seeds to the higher degree that the tree is male.. a purely male tree, however, will not produce fruit.  Also the seedless or all-female fruits will be noticeably sweeter."  (Wouldn't you know it!)
