Moderators Moderator_02 Posted August 28, 2020 Moderators Share Posted August 28, 2020 We are getting "reliable" information that ATM withdrawals will be limited to $250.00 per transaction, with a minimum fee of $5.25 per transaction, beginning September 1st. We are trying to find official documentation of these changes in policy, but so far we are not finding it. The following are screen captures at various ATM machines in the Panama City area over the past couple of days. Reports say that these messages are being displayed at different bank ATMs (specifically including Banco General, Global and BAC), not just one bank. Note the qualification that the $250.00 limit applies only to ATM cards issued outside of Panama.
WAG
Yes it is true. Last Friday I tried to withdraw 500 dollars, but got only 250. I was charged 5.25 for this and when I withdraw another 250 dollars I was charged again for 5.25 dollars. Very bad!
WAG
Did you get mote info about this outrageous bank commission? Do all banks in Panama have this charge?
Moderators Moderator_02 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2020 Since we (personally) do not use ATM cards we have no personal experience with the charges and withdrawal limitations. The information published above was from reliable sources, and provided everything that we were told. Whether all banks follow these procedures is unknown to us. We did research recently to see if there is more information, but alas, no joy.
