Supermarket fined $23,000  for mislabeling

The El Machetazo supermarket has been hit with a $23,000 fine for irregularities in the sale of Chirican beans, says the Consumer Protection Authority (Acodeco).

The Authority said that the sanction is related to a complaint filed last year by the Association of Rice Producers of Chiriquí (APACH), due to the commercialization of a bean that did not match what was indicated on the label, coupled with the fact that the product did not declares packing date, category, designation, or quality grade. The grain was red chirican beans
