Keith Woolford
Since the other post about an earthquake appears to be proprietary and closed to discussion, here's a bit more info. The 5.0 movement at 6:38 a.m. appears to have been about mid-point between Paso Canoas and Rio Serreno. The University of Panama has seismological equipment in various locations country wide to monitor earth movement. FYI, blog owners have the ability to lock their blogs and/or specific blog postings. It apparently was Hil's choice to take that action this morning after a few replies. It is his decision and his alone. Forums on the other hand can be locked, edited, closed, hidden, deleted, etc., only by an administrator (or moderator, of which we currently have zero). Uncle Doug
The 6:38 shock was the first quake I've felt since moving to Boquete. It reminded me that I had promised my wife that I would strap our curio cabinet to the wall, but haven't done so yet. Another Sunday project.... What we feel apparently also depends on the depth of the activity. We have had shallow tremors in the 3.0 to 4.0 range that feel much stronger than a deep 5.0 event. My friend Brian in Potrerillos says that according to his equipment, the first quake was a 2.
