The starter, who has been part of the pre-selection of Panama and has played in the national championships with the teams of Panamá Metro and Panamá Este, tested positive for Stanozolol in an off-season control performed on July 4. Stanozolol is an anabolic steroid that allows greater muscle development in those who consume it and is included in the list of non-specific prohibited substances, according to the anti-doping program of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation. The ORAD-CAM processed the Amaya samples in a laboratory in Havana, Cuba and informed the Panamanian about the negative results on August 1st of this same year. The starter admitted the consumption of the substance and did not present a justification for therapeutic use, so the proceeding was initiated to impose a sanction, with a provisional suspension. On August 27, he sent a letter to the ORAD-CAM in which he admitted the use of the substance and accepted all the charges against him, in addition to rejecting the hearing. By virtue of that, he received the suspension, which will begin to be counted from the first of August and will end on May 1, 2022. Anthony Amaya had a short three-year career, between 2011 and 2013, in the minor league system of the Boston Red Sox, and played in the rookie category in the Dominican Republic Summer L https://www.panamatoday.com/sports/panamanian-baseball-player-suspend-almost-four-years-doping-8639 Quote
