Jim and Nena if you read posts on CL, why don't you become members? Ciao. Pat.

So where on my radio dial are "the local radio" broadcasts? Spanish or in English?
Spanish not a problem, but what time are the announcements?

Seems there was a Big bicycle team gathering in Boquete today (Saturday). Difficult driving and streets closed off. Did anyone see/hear about this scheduled meeting? Did the police notify us about the crowds and street closures? Oh, I wish for information to avoid this type of traffic problems.

So .... can I get my aluminum foil hat at the Tuesday Market?

People can draw whatever message they like from this experience. I drew three things. One, when you report a crime, be prepared for a long, time-consuming process with which you are unlikely to be satisfied. Secondly, if the Panamanian security forces really want better crime reporting, they need to look at their own procedures first so as to encourage rather than discourage people from filing. Finally, as has been said many times by security-minded persons and organizations here, you are your own best provider of security. I have no reason to believe that Captain Espinoza is not a well-meaning, dedicated law enforcement official. But the system itself is not supportive of his declared aims.
So your concern or problem is with the procedures that the police are required to use and not with the police staff?

What a "downer". Sorry about your bad experience, but are you saying we should NOT report crimes to the Boquete police?

I have tried to purchase lettuce at three different stores (both David and Boquete) without success. Sometimes nothing available. One store had lettuce that had been on the shelf a long time, turning brown. Ugh. Ideas?

I'm wondering if the Panamanian population is learning that corruption and bribes will be discovered and those involved will be charged? More info later?

Because drivers can't read the signs ("Buses Only"), interested only in their needs, or don't understand the danger in not following the posted directions, or maybe just poor judgment? Perhaps all of the above are in play by this driving behavior.
Very dangerous for sure.

What is the schedule for Boquete Jazz? Anyone know?

Pat - each of us has a niche. The FB page is to reconnect lost pets with their owners.
I believe your intent is good (your niche); i.e. that you are trying to be helpful. Guess double or triple posting of the same information won't do harm except to waste reader's time assuming everyone searches all news outlets.
-
What? Why start a Facebook site for lost pets? We have effective organizations like News Boquete and ARF, among others, who do an excellent job distributing information regarding animals. This site also posts helpful data for owners.
Don't understand another place to search for the same information.

I didn't see this ad from The Rock, but what the heck do you get for $99? Must be really special.

So these "smart guys" stole $11.6 million in checks?

The appointments of Notary Publics is pure political patronage and occurs with each change of government. There is a lot of money to be earned operating an efficient Notaria legitimately.
This system leads to the possibility that there may be favors to repay. This makes me wonder what other "appointments" lead to favors to repay.
Several here in Boquete? I understand corregiadors are political appointments. What other officials fit in this category?

To bad that people who submit these announcements don't/can't include all necessary information---like location of this program.
Who, what, why, when & where data would be helpful.

I would add to this caution: Count the money (change) from clerks before you move away from the counter. Sometimes my change has been $2.00 too much and other times $5.00 too little. I believe this is an honest mistake, but math needs to be a major subject in the Panama schools.

I agree with the words about food, service, and pricing. The lack of parking is a real problem, however.

Judy: I was giving you a compliment for again helping rescue animals.
Sorry you misunderstood.

Judy: here you go again.

I checked the profile of Bond McCamy and learned that he joined CL on October 25, 2016 --- a recent member of about one week. Maybe he doesn't realize this topic is an "old hat" topic. I agree, Judy: no interest anymore.
Also curious why Danielle thinks Bond's posting is racist? He was just asking whether Ambreen is the name of a real person. That has nothing to do with race, and seems like a legitimate question given the history and content of Boquete Ning.

Perhaps these negative markings are from Ning people? Just wondering.

Thanks Keith for this posting. These "fake news" publications should be put out of business IMO. Just anything to increase getting attention and/or increase their readership seems to be the motivation.
