there are never solutions for all problems. But, before feeling sorry for the Panamanian gov remember there are over a hundred thousand Panamanian's in the US, the US gov gives hundreds of millions in aid to Panama every year. Question why Medicaid doesn't cover expats out of the US where care is much cheaper thus saving the US millions. Why do people have to be terminally ill to receive assisted suicide. Why is suicide illegal in the first place. The Panamanian gov has financial problems because Martinelli spent like a drunken sailor not because of expats receiving a very cheap level of care in regional hospitals. Would a solution be a good thing? Yes, so why don't the two govs initiate a health care treaty.

The body has its own agenda.  Even if you want to die and are ready, the body hangs on.  It is programmed for survival, not philosophy.  It will hang on beyond all reason.  That is why enlightened states in the U.S. have passed laws to allow assisted suicide, to prevent prolonged, useless suffering when there is no chance of recovery.  It is highly unlikely such laws will ever exist in Panama.

While this is true that it's highly unlikely such laws will ever exist in Panama, suicide is suicide, why would one need assistance? People commit suicide every day with no help at all.  Just saying.

They do stamp your passport at Rio Sereno, but they keep a copy of your passport.

I guess I don't understand the reasoning behind that. Maybe they don't have computers? Or take your picture with the web-cam like they do at Paso Canoas? Not sure I would like copies of my passport floating around out there. :o(

Major recent problems at Paso Canoas recently: http://panamaprattle.blogspot.com/2015/11/chaos-for-cubans-in-canoas.html

Also contrary to Chica's posting you do not need a ticket to your country of origin, you need ticket of onward passage. For some reason this is still uncorrected on her The Real Boquete Facebook page.

We were told my immigration that it is to be a ticket to your country of origin. It must depend on who you talk to.

The other possibility may be what your country of origin is.

  5. Do they not "stamp" your original passport at Rio Sereno?  I don't understand the "copy" of passport significance. If your passport is not stamped wouldn't you have an issue at any other crossing in future? Maybe I'm missing something here? At Paso Canoas driving back into Panama you will be stopped once again and your passport checked for your stamp.

Don't you have to have 2 copies of your passport? Which crossing do you use?

No, not at the Paso Canoas (Frontera) crossing.

Yes. Conway is where I bought the sheet set that feels like sandpaper. (Admittedly, they have grown softer with repeated laundering and the use of fabric softener.) The undersized blankets came from Pricesmart.

The first set I bought at Conway wasn't very nice either. But I found that you pretty much get what you pay for and bought a more expensive set and have been very satisfied with them. I have to admit that I opened them first and the sales lady didn't have a problem with it.

I am a little 'gun shy' about the BCP market. Haven't been for ages. If Rodny AND AaC were there it would be a worth going to debate. I hope I can get feedback here.

Why would they need to debate? They both provide a service to the community. Some are signing up for both. They aren't trying to outdo each other so why all the drama? Choose one or both.

Gordon, this should say it all. It's up to this site to determine how they want it viewed. I happen to agree that foul language has it's place, this is not it.

Just because you hear it on TV or in private conversations doesn't make it right or any more palatable. I'm not a prude but appreciate off color language not be so "in your face" at every turn.

Many years ago I complained to a Tico about the condition of roads in Costa Rica.

He replied that "yes, they are bad, but they go everywhere".

Here you square a rim in the pot holes, in Costa Rica you break an axle or fall completely in and end up in China! I lived there for 18 months and never saw them repair a single one.

Her name is Ambreen Ghazi.  At least that is how she signed her name in the letter she sent out about advert rates.

After having noticed the change of slide show pictures on ning this morning, I am now convinced that Ambreen is Malaysian!  I could barely contain myself when I saw the picture of the woman selling fruit wearing the non la bamboo hat!

Bonnie posted the link 17 hours ago and I posted the print text that JohnF13 said he couldn't read. Within that the name

    Ambreen Ghazi Shaikh

    was there.

    Now THAT"s marketing!

Maybe when they get the proposed "boots on the ground" moderator (as was announced today) the ad management will make some sense.  B4B is one of the more important charities in this town.  Now IF they were smart, they would offer an apology to Planet Telecom and as well  donate a large ad space to the  B4B cause.   That would be nice.

They are so arrogant you can bet that will never happen. They lie about the numbers, they lie about how Lee ran the site like we're a bunch of no nothing idiots and they hide behind fake names or at least don't want you to know who they are so they are not attacked around town (like they are even in town). So much BS it's hard to stomach. But I will stay till they boot me out just so I can take the occasional jab at them. 9_9

    Penny,

If they haven't done so yet they will stop the upgrades to Win 7. I liked it also. I'm now in Win 8.1. I've gotten used to it but it was painfull. You won't need to change until some of your programs or features start to fail you that will not associate with Win 7. And, here's what happens to me and Win 10. Microsoft has attached an icon to my computer saying I can upgrade to Win 10. Well, I have been trying to inflict more pain on my self and install Win 10 free and it keeps telling me to wait. Well, I have been waiting for months. lol Stay with Win 7 as long a you can!!!

They will support Win 7 till 2020 so certainly no rush to move on. My advise is to stay with 7 as long as possible.
