6 Firemen from Sooke; BC, Canada?

    They are:

BEN, CAM, CHRIS, JASON, JOHN AND MATT.

For some of them this is their second visit.

They came with fire equipment to instruct our local firemen.

The equipment brought will stay in Boquete!!!

Isn´t this great news for our community?

Their last day at the Fire Station will be tomorrow, Thursday.

Please note that today, Wednesday, they will be in David

If you can, please, drop by and let them know how grateful

we are for their dedication and for helping our community.

They will be happy to see you!

They take a break at around 10:00 am. and 2:00 pm.

Lunch break is at 12:15 pm. to 1:00pm

I asked and I was told that on Thursday you are welcome to

    drop by at anytime.

There are many Firemen men and women who came from:

Dolega, Caldera and Potrerillos to learn from these six

    outstanding Firemen.

Rotary Club is always working for our community.

We usually work quietly, this time we need your help to show

them how thankful the community is and how much we appreciate

    their great effort.

Thank you in advance to all of you who will come tomorrow to the

    Fire Station.

  4. FINCA FELIZ ANNOUNCES:

Along with our other products, Moringa, Ashwangandha herbal tincture and Chinese mushroom tinctures, we have available the only Nano colloidal silver that kills bacteries, viruses and fungus inside the body as well as outside treating wounds, etc.. We are in the big room NEXT TO Andrew's gold and silver table.

Nano-Silver is pure de-ionized water with silver (Ag) in suspension. Approximately 80% of the silver is in the form of metallic silver nano-particles. The remaining silver is in ionic form. Though similar to colloidal silver, generally, a colloid is a suspension of particles of from 10 nm to 1 micron in diameter and the silver particles in Nano-Silver are less than 2 nm in diameter and therefore too small to be considered in "colloidal" suspension. They are rather, in a "nano-suspension," a much more stable state.

Because of the small size of the particles, the total surface area of the silver exposed in solution is maximized, resulting in the highest possible effect per unit of silver. As a result, the 20 PPM concentration of silver in Nano-Silver provides more effectiveness inside the body than silver solutions in the colloidal class, of many times greater concentration.

Another characteristic of Nano-Silver which amplifies its effectiveness inside the body above that of common colloidal silver products is the high percentage of silver in particulate (metallic) form. This relationship is key because ionic silver becomes silver chloride in the stomach or bloodstream. Silver chloride is only slightly soluble and far less effective than metallic or ionic silver. Were it not for this chemical reaction, ions would be preferable to metallic particles as they are in vitro. Only metallic particles survive the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to remain effective inside the bloodstream and body tissue. Most colloidal silver solutions are no more than 5-10% particles with the remainder in the form of ions.

Combining high particulate concentration with ultra small particle size results in a silver solution which is without peer. Doing the math on a comparison between Nano-Silver and common colloidal silver solutions reveals a striking contrast in particle surface area, and therefore, effectiveness. Comparing the best common colloidal silver product (a theoretical formula of 20 PPM silver,10% particles of 10 nm), we get an 8 fold advantage for percent concentration for Nano-silver and a 5 fold advantage for particle size. Multiplying the two factors to arrive at the difference in potency yields an astounding advantage of 40 times. This calculation does not take into account the advantage of small particles from the standpoint of penetration into capillaries, cells, pathogens and "backwater" body tissues. Though not readily calculable, mathematically, a knowledge of the body and its structure brings readily to mind the great advantage of particles a tenth the size of those of other products.'

With an advantage of 40 to 1 in potency per unit of silver, one can choose to use less of the product or expect better results or a combination of the two. Because of the potency of Nano-Silver, one can take less than the 350 mcg/day allowed by EPA as a maximum daily reference dose and still maintain a robust component of bio-available silver in the bloodstream. We have experienced very effective prophylactic benefit from 1-2 teaspoons/day of Nano-Silver over several years of usage by 10's of thousands of customers. That equates to 100-200 mcg/day, well under the amount referenced by EPA for public water supplies in the US. That enables users to be as secure with daily use of Nano-Silver as a dietary supplement as one can be with EPA approved drinking water. The properties of Nano-Silver, then, completely put to rest any concern with Argyria or other perceived toxicity concerns.

To illustrate the particle size advantage of Nano-Silver over pathogens and over the next best silver solutions (10 nm colloidal silver), consider the illustration below. In the left panel is a rhinovirus, the pathogen which causes colds and one of the smallest viruses. In the center panel is a 10 nm particle from a very good conventional colloidal silver. In panel 3 is a representation of a Nano-Silver particle.

    (1) Rhinovirus 25 nm

    (2) 10 nm particle

    (3) 2 nm Nano-Silver particle

It is easy to see the particle size advantage of Nano-Silver in this example. A staphylococcus bacteria is roughly 40 times the size of the Rhinovirus. It is an easy victim of Nano-Silver.

Only in the last few years has nano-technology begun to evolve into a valuable science. Only in the last few years has the technology existed to produce this cutting edge silver suspension. Only now has silver arrived as the natural immune system assistant it was in the early days of mankind when it was plentiful in its metallic form in ground water. For optimum function of body immunity, everyone needs Nano-Silver circulating in their bloodstream.

  5. I am writing to ask for help with a research project I have undertaken for a mainstream television network. We are looking for real families who have gone off the grid and are living successfully in a jungle environment somewhere in the Americas. The families we hope to find share the following:

    • At least one of the members speaks English and is educated
    • They live in a self-sustaining manner, i.e., farming their own food, raising livestock, etc.
    • Their home was built by hand
    • They may have electricity, but not running water
    • Their living environment presents challenges in the form of insect and wildlife

Ideally, the family would be extended, to include grandparents and/or adult children, but not necessarily. We are not looking for large communes or religious communities.

I am hoping that you or someone you know may have crossed paths with or heard of such a family. If so, I would be extremely grateful to hear about the family and how to contact them.

    Thank you very much,

    Arin Farrington

  7. Several people have asked Hospice to do their presentation "Being Prepared" for small groups.  On Monday  Oct. 26 we will be hosting a small group in the library at 2:00 p.m.   The presentation is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

A large group presentation will be at the BCP Tuesday Morning Meeting on Nov. 10.  Due to time constraints, it cannot be as in depth as a small group but will be a good overview of a very complicated subject.

                                                                                            "Being Prepared"

The recent sudden, unexpected illnesses and deaths of several of our community members have brought to mind how quickly things change and leave our control. Hospice explains the paper work,  legal documents and procedures necessary in Panama for an illness or death to be handled the way you would want with a minimum amount of stress for the person trying to see that your wishes are followed.

Many people seem to believe that because they have their affairs in order in their country of origin, that those papers will carry over to Panama.  Absolutely not!  Things are different.  Paperwork is different.  Laws are different.

Please RSVP for Monday's small group at the library

  9. Dear Boquete friends,

I am also concerned with the contaminated water situation.

My background is in microbiology and immunology.  I worked in the area of researching infectious diseases as well as managing the laboratories that I worked in for over 15 years.  I also taught microbiology at the universities where I worked.  I have hands on experience using and selling Reverse Osmosis systems for water purification and using Ultra-violet systems for disinfection.

Unfortunately with the coliform load currently in the water, a reverse osmosis system will be overwhelmed and may allow microbes through or fragments of the microbes, which can also make an individual sick.
Ultra-violet systems offer no protection against parasites, especially their eggs.  With the current coliform load in the water, again, UV systems may be overwhelmed.

We know that the local government is not known for moving quickly to solve problems.  And I think this situation with the water will be another example of this.

    *******
So in the interim, the best protection for an individual is to take your filtered or UV irradiated water and add an extra step:

Boil your water on the stove in a pot (with the lid on) for a minimum of 20 minutes.  The 20 minute countdown starts when the water starts to boil.

For 1 gallon (or about 4 liters) of water - minimum boiling time is 20 minutes.

If your pot is holds more than 1 gallon (or 4 liters) of water, for every extra 1 liter of water, add another 10 minutes to the boiling time.

Allow this water to cool and use this water for drinking, food preparation, cleaning your teeth - basically use this boiled water for anything that goes into your mouth.  I would even go to the extent of using this water to wash your hands.

The amount time for boiling is extremely important.  The boiling step will kill parasites and their eggs and it will also destroy the proteins in the microbe fragments that make you sick.

    *******

If you are already having stomach upsets (but do not have diarrhea), you may want to consider doing something about this……

    -  see your doctor and have him prescribe something for you - make sure you explain to the doctor where you live and that there is a contamination problem; or

    -  I personally use colloidal silver as an alternative to an anti-biotic, anti-viral or anti-fungal pharmaceutical.   If this indicates to you, take the colloidal silver on an empty stomach - do not have it with food as stomach acid changes the structure of the silver and makes it less effective.

    ********

I hope this information is helpful.

    Best regards,

    Carmel George

  11. The Pilates Classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays all begin with a 20-30 minute cardio and coordination sequence, sitting, jumping and moving around on the ball, as we warm up the body and build stamina and endurance. During this period of sitting on the ball, we also do exercises requiring total concentration; integrating the body and mind and exploring coordination. Class then continues with stretching and core sequences, done either standing, lying on the ball [face-up and/or face-down] or on a mat on the floor.

Beginnining this Wednesday, the Wednesday classes will not start with the cardio, seated on the ball exercises, and consist entirely of the stretching and mat work.

*Perhaps potential Pilates students who [for whatever reason] don't want to sit on, bounce and move around the ball, the content of this class may sound, and be, more appealing. And for those who like it all, the new format will give a variety to the weekly class schedule and the opportunity to perform more core-strengthening mat sequences and stretching exercises during the entire class time. Come November, the Friday classes will resume, having the same class format as those on Wednesday.

Interested? Come join anytime! And be prepared to work... and have a ton of fun!
    Classes Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30- 9:45 p.m., and Wednesdays, 9:30- 10:45 a.m. Starting November, Fridays, 9:30- 10:45 a.m.
All class materials provided. Have a yoga mat? Bring it to be guaranteed 2 mats when we go down to the floor.
1 class- $8 for residents, $9 for tourists & guests, or 4 classes for $30- to be taken in a month. Or best deal yet- Unlimited classes for a month- $72.

  14. For those who didn’t catch the result of a water study (see chart below)  for alto Boquete and Oriana, there are coliform fecal matter in the water. I have heard that there is a new water system on the horizon, however I’m not sure the mayor or citizens know the extent of the dangers of the Boquete water in general.  People new to the area need to be very careful not to drink unfiltered water. Boquete is painted as a haven, but with the crime, the parasites, and insane driving, it feels more like a nightmare, (sorry realtors…).

My son has been almost deathly ill for 4+ weeks with giardia, he is 8 yrs old, and has lost more weight and muscle tone then a little boy should ever have to. He is emaciated and has intestinal obstruction because of the parasite that also blocks absorption of iron and other . He has been through Flagyl an antibiotic treatment and now, after visiting the hospital last night, will go through another broad spectrum anti-parasitic.  The doctor told me that he sees many children from Boquete with giardia.  A whole group of women dining at a local restaurant last year came down with giardia and amebic disentary. Please use filtered water and don’t drink or give your kids water from the Boquete area. Santa Lucia area in Volcancito has very dirty water. Be careful on raw salads too. Some here take an anti parasitic each 6 months just to be cautionary. (the Doc recommends testing often instead).
Please let me know if you or a loved one or friend has suffered with a water born illness here. I am going to talk with the mayor, or the department of health next week and I let them know what is happening amongst the foreigners, and find out what plans and timelines for addressing the situation is. I will inform you of any updates to this information.  Other problems in certain residential areas are water shortages in the dry season. Please ask before you rent or buy in these areas and message me if you know what areas have this problem. I have heard Palmira has problems? (arriba or abajo?) Please consider rainwater capturing solutions with filters, purchasing an extra tank for shortage resiliency.  Carry your filtered water hydroflasks to restaurants, especially for the young and elderly. If you have a stomach upset, immediately send a stool sample to the lab (up from Romero’s)  to find out if it is a parasite! it is only $3. A visit to Dr Gomez is $10. Early detection and treatment of Giardia is essential to avoid potential lifelong consequences. Parasites are nothing to talk lightly as they can more to organs and the brain and cause lifelong damage or death. They are tenacious and hard to get rid of, dietary changes, vitamin and mineral supplementation and herbal and pharmaceutical medicine will all be NECESSARY to treat effectively if possible. my # is 63055936 to call with questions or comments, Hablo español tambien. Or respond by email. by Tuesday. Thank you for your help.

  17. Since moving to Panama, have you found yourself desperately needing someone who knows Spanish and understands the Latino culture? Perhaps you’re experiencing that right now! It may be a feud with a neighbor, an important business deal, a meeting with a government official, a parent/teacher conference, a medical consultation, or any of a host of other situations. If so, please allow me to introduce myself.

I’m Darrell Eash, a recent transplant from Colorado Springs. Now I realize that name sounds quite Anglo-Saxon. However, what you don’t know about me is that I was born in Venezuela and grew up there until I moved to the U.S. for college. So yes, I’m quite fluent in Spanish, having learned both languages as a child. Additionally, my 27 years as a radio/TV producer have been spent entirely among Latinos. I’ve traveled to all but four Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, many of them multiple times, and lived in Costa Rica for a while. My move to Boquete a couple of months ago with my family was the culmination of five previous visits to this wonderful country.

Whether by chance or by choice, I’ve already had the opportunity to be the “go-between” in a number of encounters between Gringos and Panamanians. These situations have included a land purchase, a computer repair, a school visit, a wifi hotspot purchase, and even a potential arrest and vehicle impounding! So it got me thinking that maybe I should offer to help the wider expat community here in Boquete.

Here’s what I’m willing to do. If you have a need to communicate with a local Spanish-speaker, just give me a call or send me a WhatsApp message at 6587-7167. Depending on the nature of the request, my assistance could be free of charge or might require a reasonable fee for my time and expertise. Either way, I think you’ll be happy with how much easier things work out for you. Solutions will come quicker and misunderstandings will be minimized, simply because I can speak to each party not only in their native tongue, but in the language of their heart.

Good communication is the key to getting things done. Don’t leave it to chance!
