  1. Unfortunately, there is not a renewable energy plant out there that doesn't list the first income line as "government subsidy".  The technology isn't there yet and likely never will be unless these projects are made to stand on their own.  The cost of materials, from solar panels to windmills are way too high because of government inputs.

  2. I talked to Mr Daves some time ago before I knew anything about him.  Quite charming and charismatic - I guess that is how he gets so many followers.  At the time he had an office upstairs in San Francisco plaza.  Don't know if he is still there, but he did mention that he was lookig for land in Potrerillos to put up greenhousesand feed the poor.

  3. What really amazes me is how quickly it all went bad.  Seems that the new owners didn't even boher to research what .ning did but instead imposed their own version of what they think it did.  Yes, we had disagreements and some classic battles, but for the most part interesting information was derived.  Now, pablum.  I cannot believe the 6000 member claim, nor the "we are all happy here", but I don't care anymore.  Yes, I drop into .ning once a day or so, in part to watch the train wreck and in part to see if there is anything interesting.  Right now it is 99% train wreck..

  4. Every time I try to post a reply to Don Ray's thread my apologies, the reply box comes up and when I tap on it to get the keyboard on my screen the whole thing disappears and I am redirected to the topics list.  This does not happen with other posts and obviously I can comment here.  Any ideas?

  5. I received this reply from Sr. Alvarez, a representative of the Ministry of Security.  It is regarding the statement that Panama can't change it's law regarding juvenile incarceration because of a UN treaty.

    From: Gilberto Álvarez <galvarez@minseg.gob.pa>

    Thank you Ms. Sacco,
I think that the minister said that tongue and cheek. It sometimes happens that small countries are not told directly  what to do, but if we do not do what is implied we are put on gray lists or in list of the countries that don’t cooperate.  Be assured that the minister are compromised with making Panama a more peaceful and safe place to visit and live, and on addressing the problem of juvenile crime in all aspects.
    Kind regards

To which, the reply should be, what are you going to do and when?  No more wriggle room.
