There is a world of difference between "legitimate" tourists and chronic border hoppers. I don't think any legititimate tourist is going to be bothered by any of this and the noted increase in numbers and amount of money spent seems to provide proof of that. Personally, I am not a fan of the border hopping lifestyle, just seems to me, from both a moral and monetary security point of view that it would be preferable to obtain some kind of legitimate residency. The requirements are quite simple and the monetary demands very low, so why not?

Ouch Bud........Some folks seem to think that Panama is one of the U.S. States and expect everything to be provided, including medicare. Of course, they dont expect to hsve to pay U.S. taxes. Apparently soverignty is an unclear concept to some.

There are quite a few Canadians in Panama. Check out the facebook page under the same name. I believe Cdn health care requires you to spend about 6 months in Canada otherwise there is a waiting period ( but bot if you are a refugee). There are health insurance plans here and while they can be expensive, they provide far superior service to anything the Cdn public system does.

Oh, yeah, and on the real upside, the cats play with and kill scorpions.

There are two types of geckos in our house. Roof geckos and dead geckos. One of my cats is a super fast hunter ( he even caught a bat in mid air once) so the ground geckos are dead meat. Unfortunately, he eats them, then I gotta clean up the puke. Gotta love cats.

I'm so glad I don't look at Ning anymore. I have no idea what this is about, but, please keep the secret, because I have absolutely no interest.

Thanks for the info on that. I went down there today and signed up for 4 Meg's, cost $47/month mas o memos. One word of caution, there is no English spoken there, so put your best Spanish game face on! 6 Meg's is $82, it goes up to 9 Meg's for $133 or so.
Total cost for the new contract was $142, that includes the first month, install and I believe, equipment.,

My turn I guess. Anyone else having netflix problems? I am using blockless vpn with an address in the U.S. Starting a week ago I could not get some programs and for the past two days nothing. The screen tells me that it cannot connect to netflix. I just installed a new range extender hard wired to my router, but these problems started before that install. My internet is fine, Youtube works great.

Thanks for the explanation, Mark. Made it easy for me to understand.

I talked to Marion a couple of days ago and without getting into specifics, she is recovering well. She recently got her car out of the garage and renewed her drivers licence. That has given her a lot more mobility - the day after I was talking to her I saw her again at Los Establos.

Looking for someone who can re-upholster a couple of old sofas and a chair.

Bud, that amount is suspiciously high. My costs used to be around $40 a month, I put in a big hot tub and the bill only went up about $15. Highest bill I have ever had was just over $60, and that was a month I was doing a lot of heavy welding.

Maybe current drivers licenses, plates and insurance? Sometimes, a traffic stop is just, well, a traffic stop.

Thanks Keith. Really good to hear about positive things the youngsters are doing instead of concentrating on the one or two percent that are bad.

Poulan lawn tractor for sale 17.5 hp, 42 inch cut. About 2 years old, bought from Do-It for $1600 or so. Very low hours, never abused apart from the occasional rock! Selling because my two horses are much more efficient grass cutters, so the tractor doesn't get any exercise. Fresh oil. Asking $1000 for quick sale.
