Local driving skills (risk taking)? Maybe? When I first came to Boquete I thought the locals did not value life very much because of their bad driving skills. Recently I’m thinking these people have minor or no spatial skills. Can’t identify how much space is needed to pass another vehicle to avoid an accident. This is a major problem for others on the road.
Backpackers walking on the roadway with their back to traffic and people crossing the road without checking traffic are also scary for drivers.
Bottom line: comprehensive driver training should be part of the licensing process IMO.

BAD NEWS FOR DOG OWNER'S WHOSE DOGS LOVE KIRKLAND DOG BISCUITS. TODAY, FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME, WE VISITED PRICESMART LOOKING FOR THE KIRKLAND BRAND DOG BISCUITS. THEY HAD NONE. A PRICESMART EMPLOYEE WAS TAKING INVENTORY WITH TWO HELPERS CLOSE TO THE DOG FOOD AILE. MY WIFE INQUIRED ABOUT THE KIRKLAND DOG BISCUITS, THE EMPLOYEE CHECKED HER COMPUTER AND SAID NONE WERE ON ORDER FOR THE PANAMA PRICESMARTS BUT THE KIRKLAND DOG BISCUITS WERE BEING DELIVERED TO OTHER LATIN AMERICAN PRICESMART STORES. WE TOLD HER THAT MANY PEOPLE LIKED THAT BRAND. ON THE WAY OUT OF THE STORE, AT THE HELP DESK, I SPOKE TO AN EMPLOYEE ABOUT THAT AND SHE TOOK MY NAME AND NUMBER. I THINK IT MIGHT BE GOOD FOR OTHER DOG OWNERS WHO HAD BOUGHT THE KIRKLAND BISCUITS BEFORE TO VOICE THEIR OPINION WHEN SHOPPING AT PRICESMART, WHO KNOWS, THEY MIGHT ORDER SOME IN THE FUTURE. KEEP THE PRESSURE UP!!!
We found Kirkland dog biscuits at PriceSmart yesterday. A 10 pound box, like the previous shape and design of the dog treats.
Supply was located on main aisle in the store, not near other dog food.

In front of Mall Chiriqui a few hours ago. Small vehicle destroyed. The injured have been hospitalized.
This stretch of roadway is a race track area and seems more crowded each time we venture to David.
Still question why PriceSmart does not have a traffic light for turning to their store? Getting out of the property and onto the main road is also a scare.
I don’t understand the benefit of the flashing red lights near the hospital entrance. I’ve never seen anyone paying attention to these signals.

Regarding speeders; I watch out for racing “yellow hornets” aka taxi drivers and fast traveling pick-up drivers. I also am scared when I see senior citizen females trying to maneuver big SUV vehicles using their lane and half of my traffic space coming at me down the hill near my house. ?

Our friend who lives in David just told us he witnesses one vehicle accident per day in that city.
Also said he has traded in his small car for a “muscle machine” because of the bad driving habits of local residents.

So now truck accidents end on their top with four tires in the air☹️?.

No big surprise with this information. People who travel out of Panama already know how expensive it has become to live here IMO.

There is a report on Boquete News on Facebook of the arrest of a 31-year-old thief from Palmira Abajo who is described as the “scourge of Boquete.” It is reported that there have been multiple complaints about him. I hope this is our guy.
Hopefully we will see an official report from the Police and/or Rodny regarding this situation.

I agree about their higher prices. This was my finding also.

Interesting observation that same m.o. used in the two robberies. Sad that people don’t change their m.o., but they still don’t get caught. Wonder how this happens?
-
Thanks, Keith. You provided more definite store information and what Bonnie was seeking.

Stores selling clothing, vitamins, and perfume. Large Galeria Central sign at entrance to parking area.

On our way to David last week we noticed police located “in unexpected locations” all with radar equipment. A white pick-up roared past us as we remarked to each other: “boy, is he speeding”. Yup, around the next curve the officer had radar in hand and the pick-up was stopped. Assume that driver was given a big ticket.
Glad the police are taking this action.

I’m also beginning to wonder if this is a guy who is unwell. Steals money/valuables and is non-threatening; uses the same m.o. to gain entrance to someone’s property, and walks around different areas of town.
Must not have a job or be accountable to anyone, IMO.

16 hours without potable water? Hope people in PC are preparing.

Wasn’t the current turmoil situation in Nicaragua caused because of SS problems in that country?

A powerful feature of Chiriqui Life (CL) is the search capability. The purpose and benefit is that members can find previous postings to answer their questions or learn information already asked and answered.
Search is the magnifying glass looking icon located in the upper right on the home page and some other pages.
PROCESS: Click on the magnifying glass, type in a topic (subject) word, then click on the magnifying glass icon or hit the Return/Enter key on your keyboard. Previous postings contain the desired content are displayed.
EXAMPLE: Click on the magnifying glass icon. Type DENTIST on the line next to big magnifying glass. Fourteen (14) past postings of questions and answers on this subject are displayed.
Also typing in the search argument will cause a context sensitive down menu to appear. That menu allows further options to tailor your search.

Many thanks, John. Will go there tomorrow.

Where can I find a battery for my Swiss Army Victorinox watch?

This sounds like the Panamanian producers are seeking help that they don’t deserve. Suppose they will become more efficient and competitive? Too many children here......we don’t want a milk shortage.
-
What produce in particular?
Can Panama provide sufficient milk to satisfy the demand of locals?

We attended a large gathering of both gringos and Panamanians yesterday. Talked with one gringo couple who had no knowledge of the robberies occurring in the area. These people have lived in Boquete full time for seven years. Keep to themselves because “too much gossip” was their explanation. Seemed like nice people.

But the good news is this guy will be out of our area for the 24 years that he’s in jail.
