The subject of this podcast is an organization rather than an individual, specifically the Boquete Community Playhouse (BCP). The underlying reason for this podcast is to provide an opportunity for three of the recently elected BCP officials to share their vision for what they want to achieve, and secondly to let the community know what they can do to help the BCP bring its vision to fruition. This podcast includes Phil Bennett (BCP President), Penny Barrett (BCP Vice President), and Jan Thompson (BCP Membership Chairperson). The triggering incident behind this podcast was an email by Phil Bennett that was distributed via News.Boquete. That email was about the closing of the Fénix Café at BCP at the end of September 2017. It seemed appropriate to provide BCP with an opportunity to elaborate on the bigger picture about the future of BCP through the eyes of the recently elected council members. One interesting change is that BCP has previously been known as Boquete Community Players, but there is strong support for recasting the name to better reflect the scope of the activities that BCP undertakes. BCP is now to be known as the Boquete Community Playhouse. Going further, the bottom line for how the community can help remains that of volunteering -- be it as a stagehand, doing carpentry and set building, offering ideas for plays and performances and theater use ideas, being an artistic director, staging of musicals, etc. Volunteering does not mean that you are committing to full time involvement, but rather offering your support, and then following through. And finally, it is clear that the BCP management really wishes to become more multicultural in its activities and in audience participation.
