Keith Woolford Posted May 16, 2017 Share Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) UPSTREAM CLEANUP IN RIVERS PREVENTION TO GUARANTEE THE TRANQUILITY OF BOQUETENOS Last Thursday, May 11TH, the first report of the work carried out in the upper tributaries of the Caldera River was presented to the Mayor of Boquete. The work included a monitoring and removal of timber from the bed of the river that could create reservoirs or dams to remain in the tributary during this rainy season. According to the report details the work carried out by the staff of the municipality which together with the staff of the community Board of Bajo Boquete initiated work in the area of Alto Respingo de Cerro Punta and continued down to Los Naranjos. With this, the first intervention in the channel, a large number of trees were removed that for natural reasons had fallen into the river. A second day of work is prepared for the next few days in order to ensure and provide peace of mind to Boquetenos, in particular to residents in the lower flood plains, where previously there have been effects as a result of the flooding of the Caldera River. This type of work in the course of the river, in the last year of this administration has made it possible to ensure the tranquility of residents Boquetenos in 2008 were surprised by the heavy flooding of the Caldera River, which caused damage to the population and infrastructure.
