Siempre Soluciones
I spoke this morning with one of my Panamanian neighbors and they said that with the intervention of the mayor regarding the turmoil of the sewer/water/electrical project that they're scaling the project from five to two years and will only complete the sewer portion at this time. The roads will be re-paved in one year. No time frame on when or if they're continue with the the water and electrical components.
Bonnie
That's good news if your neighbor knows whereof he speaks. I just hope they repave some of the main streets before they continue to dig up others, but I suppose it's more likely that all the paving will be done at once. That's unfortunate. All my Panamanian neighbors seem to believe it. We can only hope!
Keith Woolford
The whole point of the mission is to improve distribution of potable water to the community so dropping that component would be regressive, and a waste of already expended time, effort, and resources. Agreed 100%. However, as we know, there's been a lot of pain with phase one, to go five consecutive years like this would be tough.
Keith Woolford
We should be at least 2 years into it since the project was announced in January 2015 and the 5 year time frame included planning and design. Personally, I see this is as a "no pain, no gain" situation. The current water distribution system is patchwork and it's broken. It will be nice to have clean, potable water at a decent pressure, 24/7. The collection and treatment of aguas negras in Bajo Boquete is an environmental necessity to a tourist town, imo. The Mayor met with members of the community, businessmen, the contractor, and CONADES on February 15th.
