Guandu, or pigeon peas, are part of traditional holiday fare in Panama and other countries. They are normally for sale in abundance in December, but this year there is a shortage due to damage caused by the heavy rains in November. http://www.prensa.com/provincias/Aguaceros-danan-produccion-guandu-Azuero_0_4646535301.html

After a major search yesterday we finally found a Taxi with a trunk full parked near the Mercado at San Mateo in David.

$5 per pound, which is reasonable.
