VivaColombia to begin Cali flights

Panama has added another flight to Colombia.

On Sept. 5, VivaColombia, a low-cost airline, will begin flights between Panama and Cali, its third route between the two countries. It already offers flights to Medellin and Bogota.

The company began operations in Panama in August 2014 and expects to have three weekly flights to the new destination. It flies out of the former Howard Air Force Base.

Juan Emilio Posada, president of VivaColombia, said that while an increase in the department tax from $15 to $34 has impacted fares, the airline still expects to grow in Panama.
