Brain dead? C'mon Penny, not even Chiriqui Libre is normally that rude.

I've seen this topic addressed elsewhere with a bit of mis-information.
I use a ton of of mulch, pretty much anything that is available (for me this is typically the sawdust and horse poop from our stalls). One of the best mulches available is wood chips, though this form of mulch is much less readily available in Panama. A few facts:

That's good information. Judy, what about the claim that the cost of probate will be 10 - 15 % of the value of a property? This also seems like an extreme claim.

Yes. Based on a number of statements he has made since Lee Zeltzer died, if I had known that Bob Gregory was a board member of AAC, I would never have joined. On the other hand, I have received nothing but good service from RD.

Sweet Potatoes and Yams are a very confusing topic, made worse by the fact that two basic types of sweet potato (there are many named varieties) are sold in the U.S., one called yams (they are not really yams) and one generally called sweet potato, both of which are sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas). Yams are actually a totally different genus (Dioscoreaceae). I have to look this up every time the topic comes up. :-)

He has a FB page with recent comment, so I assume The Wonderful Donald is still with us. https://www.facebook.com/don.winner

Still a lack of transparency (who is/are JLM?). No real apology for some of the really nasty posts by moderators, and no end to "closed discussions". Emphasis on the ownership aspect of .ning - something Lee Zeltzer rarely even mentioned. Too little, too late.

Actually, still a lot of entertainment value here, as Olga desperately tries to present odd subjects, and a few of the remaining members respond with satirical offerings of their own - repeating Olga's ridicules line; "You must read and comment on this". Hahaha.....Richard Simmons, indeed....lol.....

Some of the stoves available for purchase in Panama come with a very nice (and I assume expensive) glass top that folds up & down. So far, I have found zero functionality for said top. In fact, it seems to be a very good collector of grease and dust. What am I missing??

For some reason this story about Panama Disease has been making the rounds on social media lately. The disease is nothing new, and will likely take quite a few years to radically affect crops in the Americas. Eventually it will, though, so there is only one alternative - develop a strain of banana plants that are more resistant to this disease than the current Cavendish variety.

To drive readership.
So we are left with the question:
Olga Suarez - political savant, or know-nothing pot-stirrer?
"Is Trump crazy and racist or a true American patriot?"
Seems that such discussions were at one time limited to blog and "group" discussions. Now, the MODERATOR of the group posts this on the main forum? Lol...

BTW, I will be giving positive reputation points to Jay Stuart for every post he makes until we dig him out of the hole. Also, if anyone is interested, I will happily vote individual positive reputation points for a mere $9.99 balboas.

Oh, Woody...concerned about your reputation votes?....LOL...one of the more ridicules features of this site.
I have to agree that Ms. Olga is much more interesting than Ambreen, but it all comes off as a little desperate, in my opinion.

Sounds like Gringo pricing to me - depends on the plant to some extent.
-
Yeah, I think that one is Mary's. All jumbled up, not well cared for and over-priced, in my opinion. But if you look around, they DO have some unusual selections.
There is a small home nursery on the right, just past the Cerro Punta sign that is worth a stop, and similar operation just past Harras Cerro Punta. These two are good places to buy plants like Coreopsis and Agapanthus at reasonable prices.

Viveros Certificados Plant List (several years old).

Also, if you are serious about obtaining certified healthy citrus trees, there is a citrus nursery in Tambo (near Penanome)
called Viveros Certificados.

Lulu's on the right side of the main drag in David heading towards Concepcion.
There are two more nurseries on the inter-americana, in San Pablo - half-way to concepcion. One is near the "ostrich" restaurant, Nueva Barranca.
Of course there is the MIDA nursery in Concepcion. You turn left off of via Volcan just before Azteka Restaurante.
One nice one in Volcan at the Mercado.
Janson's Nursery near the airstrip & lagunas in Volcan.

Well this discussion has certainly gone all over the map.

"So excited to be able to get my favorite US products here in Panama. I moved here specifically so I could pay a small add on fee to get my Campbell's Tomato Soup and Bob's Butt Wipes. Please order me a pallet of each.
And also if you can get some me some of those cream filled golden cake thingys, I'll take those too.
Oh, and some squirty cheese in can.
Do you take checks?
Please add a couple boxes of Cocoa Pebbles cereal too.
Ok, that's it.
Thanks.
PS. If you happen to come across some Chef Boyardee Cheese Ravioli, can you get me a few cans? I don't like the meat one though, I'm vegetarian. Only the cheese kind."

My wife & I subscribe to WW Medical. Over the past two years, premiums for my wife & I have risen by about $500 per year.
Just something to be aware of - good health insurance is NOT cheap.
For us, about $7,000 per year for a policy with $5,000 deductible.
Your mileage may vary.

Just as I suspected, this site has now become primarily the home of posts relating to how to buy, sell, & trade 9" pie tins and such.
Nothing against the newly appointed moderator, but half of the blog posts currently listed are by her or the lovely Ambreen.
Tick-tock...

No, the GMO fishfarm is in the Boquete area. There is a trout farm just up the hill from Volcan, in Bambito, but I think they just farm rainbow trout.
Frankly, I'm surprised that this decision was finally made after so many years of back-and-forth between Aquabounty and the FDA - it just seemed to be one of those decisions that was put off for political reasons. It'll be interesting to see if these fish make it into local markets.
I think it unlikely that any of these fish have yet been sold commercially in Panama. "AquaBounty estimates it will take several years before its fish hits the market, because the company needs to develop facilities to produce the salmon and begin raising them." Further, I think that beyond the approval to raise these fish in Panama, they would also need approval here for domestic consumption.
