Of course, the main flaw in the argument alway is, and always has been, what is termed the "last mile". That is the actual connection to your house, and if that goes down, it doesn't matter how many transmission lines there are.
-
Bonnie, think of it like water lines. As a generic example, your main line is a 2" one, from which your 1/2" line runs off. Normally all is OK, but if a large number of people run their 1/2" lines off the 2" lines, eventually the pressure will drop because there is too much demand. By putting in another 2" line two things happen - it increases capacity so more people can run their lines off it and, more importantly, if the first line goes down, the second one can carry much of the demand. Hence, theoretically, there should be fewer outages.

Judy, the climate ALWAYS changes. Changing the moniker from “global warming” to “ climate change” is merely the warmists attemt to cover up years of totally wrong modeling and egregiously false computer predictions. Does anyone still believe the hockey stick?

Hil, it's not gun control if the bad guys are getting all the guns they want and Joe Public is denied the same opportunity. As a meme on another board said, we banned drugs, so now no- one takes them anymore......How's that workin'? But here is the real rub - for $1600 I can buy a mini CNC lathe ( thank you America!) that will produce anything, in metal, from handguns to long rifles. You can't stop this stuff. Gone are the days of 3d printed single shot weapons. Heck, backyard (insert Country here) metalworkers are producing AK 47's by the thousands. It is a totally lost cause, the same as the war on drugs.

In regards to item 5, banning of guns, they are of course coming in over the borders. Meanwhile, law abiding citizens are being denied guns due to an alleged investigation into theft of weapons from the repository where they are kept and which, I understand, is under police control. Some folks I know have been waiting 2 years to receive their permits for weapons that have been bought and paid for long ago. As usual, bad guys have no problem getting guns, law abiding citizens, not so much.

At least you guys are seeing progress. Around here, the alcalde busies himself having photos taken with the various local queens, we have new bus shelters and coming soon, a sign welcoming folks to Potrerillos Abajo. Fun stuff.

Urban mobility. What a joke! Why don't they start with Boquete, which is becoming harder to get around in every day. And what's with those Greyhound size buses going around town on our narrow, congested, broken up roads? These aren't tourist buses. They are commuter buses between Boquete and David. Whose bright idea was that?
I think, Judy, as the import of old school buses is now banned that something bigger than a Coaster was needed for the Boquete/David run. However, your streets comment is spot on!

Pantah, it is beginning to sound like you want police presence outside your house 24/7 and the hell with anyone else. I sincerely hope that is not the case. My neighbour (in Potrerillos) was almost killed in a home invasion. As responsible citizens, we as a local community have now taken precautions, including a neighbourhood watch.

Wondered why ours in Potrerillos had disappeared.....

Not following. However, when I spoke to Marion just before she left. She had been called in for another interview, one she reported as being somewhat agressive towards her. Of course, now that she has left the Country, and it is two years after the fact I doubt very much if anyone will be called to account. I do know the minors involved were released from jail because they were minors. They were back in this area (and one in Boquete) within weeks of the attempted murder.
-
And yet, the three who stabbed and shot Marion Clamp are not in jail and will likely never go to trial. Double standards anyone?
-
Two questions. What size is the pony and can the cataracts be treated?
-
And yet, we have $7.00 bottles of rum here. I would suspect that the intolerance of some substances has a lot to do with the futile US "war on drugs" and the co-opting of this Country's government agencies into a doomed venture. Que sera......

Can't believe there are many left that think weed is a bad thing. Sounds very personal to me. Usual advice, keep it to yourself. Even friends talk.

Try troypoint.com, they have tutorials there for installing kodi and all the add-ons. Be warned though, it is not one click!

Signs are like restraining orders, not worth the material they are printed on. There is always that "special" someone who will drive unsafely and then claim that it is the road's fault. Unless someone such as the Diputada or the Mayor gets involved, nothing much will happen.
-
My reason - I'm a snow refugee!
-
I guess you missed the "strictly enforced" part? Of course signs and speed limits mean nothing if no one is enforcing them, but if they are, nthen behaviour changes very quickly.
-
Simple solution folks. Reduce the maximum speed through that area to 20 kms/hr and strictly enforce it every day. You wouldn't have any more accidents there, but I suspect a whole bunch of people would whine.
-
I would think, Judy, because EVERONE knows how dangerous that section of the road is especially in wet weather. I know most disagree with me, but in my mind there are no "accidents" and what happens at Brisas merely reinforces that position. In other words, sillyness on the part of the driver. Unfortunate that some get injured or even killed, but that is not the fault of the road. If calming measures such as speed bumps and chutes were installed some people would still find a way to continue silly/dangerous driving.

I will ask my housekeeper if she has spare days.

I suppose the cynical answer would be that it is not close enough to the election yet to justify opening it.......But, having done that trip a few times and noted that I never seem to be on the same side of the road on each trip, it does make you wonder. Perhaps there is someone out there with a logical reason?
