  1. Good to know what you would do. As a female I would not “greet the person and ask him his purpose for being there”.  Someone needs to be invited to be on my property;  or there is a problem.

This guy may be non-threatening, perhaps not well, maybe doesn’t understand right from wrong, or a robber by choice, but his behavior is strange and unacceptable.

Reports may be vague, but I believe they are real.

  2. Too many people tried too hard for too long to help this project. Perhaps no willingness on the manager’s behalf to manage (poor to no advertising, no return phone calls, property tours, etc.). Even local medical help was provided.

Sad ending to what should have been a great facility for Boquete.

Thanks to individuals who supported this effort.

Perhaps Panama should begin the deportations of US citizens.

Just saying......maybe Panama has already began the deportation of US citizens ( or can you obtain a Panamian passport?  I can’t, even tho I meet the so called requirements.)

No border hopping allowed, no permanent US Ambassador in Panama, change in Warden responsibilities, emergencies contacts allowed one hour per day for only four days each week......just saying.

    Hi all,

Your opinion on the following scenario would be much appreciated. Especially if you are an accountant in Panama.

Is a friendly nations permanent resident of Panama who does not live in, work or have any ties to, Panama still considered a TAX resident of Panama?

Note the distinction between being TAX resident and resident in the immigration sense of the word.

This is of interest to anyone with Friendly Nations Permanent Residence that is abroad (outside Panama) year round. And maybe only spends a few days in Panama every two years in order to maintain this status. People working as digital nomads and people who are travelling long term, but not working, fit this scenario.

Assume the person is not tax resident in any other jurisdiction.

Also assume the person has no income, business, assets or property in Panama.

    Thanks ?

This is a question for your attorney.

I think it quite possible that everything said can be true. Few if any people are all good or all bad. A man (or woman) can do many good deeds while at the same time harbor human weakness, sometimes of a perverse nature.

Perhaps what is “true” depends on a person’s viewpoint and I agree few people are all good or all bad . I keep this in mind while several friends and I laugh when one person on another forum almost daily writes negative about Chiriqui Life.

  6. Thank you, Bud.

I have stayed away from Chiriqui Life recently because of postings by some people. I think these are opinions and not provable facts. Very unfair. To much like on another forum.

Different views are interesting and I like reading them. I don’t know the real situation about Alan Handt, but everything said can’t be true. Issue to be resolved by legal system not public opinion justice.

In the last year I personally know of 8 people moving to Spain and a multitude more moving back to wherever they came from.  The posting here and in ning outlining the "rumor" that Panama is going back to the 3 day border hop gave the reason that there is some alarm at the number of expats leaving the country.

IMO "rumor" such as the one listed here causes more confusion than solving a problem. I appreciate how postings on this web-site (Bud, Keith, Newslady especially) list the source for what is re-published here.
