I left Boquete because of the road situation. I returned this week to learn about the water system contamination and influenza outbreak...what next?
-
Thanks Brandy.

Where in Boquete can I buy tissue paper? The type used to stuff Christmas bags for gift giving.
I’m attending the ACCB party at Boulder 54 and taking kids’ gifts. Have the bags, and toys but need the tissue paper. Many thanks for suggestions.

No correction needed, Ricco. Many agree with you.

Why bother to report the crime and ask for no punishment for the criminal? How does this protect others and get help for the woman with the “bad habit”.

This story sounds suspicious. Why would you suggest other folks can look at their bank statements for any suspect stuff when you have done nothing to help stop this woman’s criminal habits?
The next person who gets ripped off by this woman’s “bad habit” can blame you.

OK. I promise to schedule my emergency to fit your one hour schedule. Geeez!

So what was the purpose of the original post which identified the theft?
I’m getting mixed message here.

Thanks, Keith. You always provide helpful information.
-
Sure hope you are correct, but gotta wonder why the police and the lawyer—“no one could help”. Just saying.

This is missing cost. Please complete the information.

Why in the world was the original notice posted only in Spanish and available in local hotels? Goodness. What audience do the presenters expect?

Pricesmart probably stocks what gives them the highest sales per square foot.
If this store only wants Panamanian customers (looks like it) then gringos should take note and shop at other stores.

How would Panamanians use ground turkey?
I have noticed more Panamanians shopping here and fewer gringos.
-
Are you saying that gringos can only buy what the locals want because Pricemart will only stock what the locals will buy? How does this resolve the situation?

The Public Affairs division on the U.S. Embassy, Panama, has asked that I disseminate notice that they will be sponsoring a presentation on safety in Boquete on October 12, 2018, at the Boquete Library. New York City police officers will be addressing the assembly on issues of senior safety and burglary prevention.
More complete information is forthcoming, but the Embassy would like to gauge the level of interest so as to better prepare for the meeting. Those interested in attending are asked to confirm their interest by email to Julia Fong: FongJA2@america.gov.

I have not seen “more complete information”
Is this safety meeting still scheduled at the Boquete Library on October 12, 2018?

The Chinese are coming! The Chinese are coming! ?

Anyone claim this dog?

Agree that the local norms are not going to change just to accommodate expats.
Just means people coming here should be in good health and have money for their every need. I Know emergencies happen, but expats should consider their welfare before staying here too long and expecting too much help from others.

It is STUPID that a blood donor be age 65 or under, especially when asking potential expat donors. After all, many (most?) expats are older than the "requirements."
Yup, most expats are too old to donate blood; wonder why we are being asked.
Change the requirements?

Note to Dottie re “stocking what people really want”........I’m noticed a large increase in the number of Panamanians shopping at PS. Perhaps this store is willing to stock only what these people are wanting to buy. (Hint.....how many locals feed their dogs the Kirkland dog biscuits?) And how many gringos have requested that PS stock this item? My suggestion is ask Panamanian friends what kind of olives they like.?
Rodny Direct--no service

I think Dottie was pointing out a problem with Rodny’s poor phone service, not criticizing Rodny.I agree Rodny Direct is an important Service, but must be dependable when people have an emergency
