I'm taking care of Irene's house which is at the very end of the main Santa Lucia road. Irene always said she didn't have water problems because she was at the beginning of the line. Boy, things have changed and there is hardly a trickle coming into her house for the past month.
What do other Santa Lucia residents do? Do you buy water and fill up your water tanks? Do you complain as a group to the city? Or are you patiently waiting for the new water system to be installed? On a practical note, how do you shower and flush?

The Superbowl was on several CableOnda channels but was in Spanish. You probably had to get CBS through the internet to see it in English.

I have an old (2007) X-Trail which is sold in the U.S. under the name Xterra. I need to order a part for it but the internet sites keep asking for things like chassis number, etc.
Where is the best place to internet shop for this kind of stuff? Amazon??
How do you go about finding out a part number?
Thanks for any help.

All of Alto Boquete appears to be out of water today. My friend who came by to fill up his water jugs says there's a major break in a major pipe line.

If you can't distinguish the difference between the two parties (especially this year), you are totally blind and a little brain dead. Just saying . . .

I've known 3 people here who've had suspiciously high bills. When they're high Union Fenosa won't do anything about them. All 3 people went out and put a rock through their meter and reported the vandalism to Union Fenosa which then had to install a new meter. Quite miraculously, they're bills all went down.

Mary Lynah long ago put together a long list of health care specialists in the Boquete-David area. She updates it periodically. It used to be in one of the tabs on NING but I don't believe it's there any longer. I'm sure Bud will post it on chiriqui.life when it's ready.

Also, this information is not spam. I have read the news articles about this new power of the I.R.S.
Also, many people have taxes that are beyond the power of Turbo Tax. For those people they pay for professional help.
So, Judy and Keith, did you both get up on the wrong side of bed this morning?

I believe the Canadian government has long had the power to take away a passport if the holder owes money to the government (i.e., taxes, child support, etc).

I went to Dr. Rodriguez's office and he spent a lot of time and gave me a breathing test. If you have MS Panama insurance, you have to pay him first and then submit the form for reimbursement. I felt he was very thorough and would recommend him. I've asked Mary Lynah to add his info to her health referral list which she's now in the process of updating.

Miss Penny, can I borrow water from you? Willing to bring my own bucket.
As we say in Panama "Ja, ja, ja". I suggest you and Bud move to my neighborhood. Cheap water and nice neighbors.

Giovana Caballero (C & W technician who we miss very much) once told me that the pre-pago guadruple plan is a rip-off. First of all they charge you about 4 times the cost for a minute of call time and second of all they round all time up to the nearest minute. The other pre-pago plan that doesn't quadruples rounds your time up to the nearest second.

The new mayor has done a wonderful job dealing with the trash generated by 10 days of fair goers. In the past, the garbage wasn't picked up until the fair was over and by then it was about knee deep. This year, the workers were out every morning cleaning the area and by Monday morning it was almost spotless.
Hooray for Mayor Walker. If you see him tell him he did a good job on this. Or tell his wife Ana who works at Scotiabank and she will relay the message.

I pay my water bills for two houses in the Jaramillo Arriba neighborhood for the entire year every January. No change for me at all this year. Total bill for two houses was $32, same as last year. The $32 includes a little discount for paying for the entire year.
What a bargain !!!!!!

Well, the police have been stopping cars at the Caldera Road intersection for a good month now. Sometimes on the northbound side, sometimes on the southbound side and lately on both sides. I think the original idea of having a police stop at that spot was to find the maleantes fleeing Boquete with a car load of stolen loot. However, where the police have chosen to set up is on the south side of the intersection. Any fleeing maleante only needs to take a left turn on the Caldera road and drive back to David that way.
I wonder what the police have actually achieved other than maybe nailing a few folks with expired drivers licenses.
Anybody know?

Has anybody eaten there yet? I understand Beth Corwin is the dessert and special order maker and she is an excellent cook and baker.

I think the nachos are the best.

I have a copy of the law in Spanish. If somebody wants to borrow it to take in to Retrogusto and show them I will lend it to them.
They may be good but they have to obey the law. Maybe a little complaint to Acodeco in David.

There is a new cremation facility in David that was due to open in January but has been a little delayed because of some problems getting equipment shipped in from the U.S. The same people own the cemetery. The guy who is in charge is named Jose Arias and we're trying to arrange for him to make a presentation at the BCP Tuesday Talks.

I see a new revenue stream for the locals. Just mistreat your dog in public and somebody will pay you for the dog.
