ARF April report

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!  For April, the amount of monthly donations and funds raised from our events was $2447.00 and expenses totaled $1527.00.  Thank you to everyone who contributed!

In April 3 dogs and 1 cat found their forever home.  We currently have a dog that needs immediate placement if anyone is willing to open up your heart and home.  He was recently hit by a car and needs a place to recover.  We really have no alternatives right now – fosters are few and far between.  When you foster for ARF all food and medical expenses are provided by us.

As in March, we again had a total of 10 feral cats taken to the clinic and sterilized thru our cat trapping program.  Please consider donating to this important program thru our website.  It takes approximately $300 per month to maintain.  Reference “cat trapping” and your donation will go directly for food and medical expenses for the ferals.

DONATION ALERT!

We have recently come to find out that there is someone who has been making donations online to ARF (or so they thought) on a monthly basis for the past 2+ years.    They assumed we were receiving the funds and the sad truth is we were not.  We can only come to the conclusion that this person made an honest mistake and selected payments to go to an organization with a similar name to ours, or they are victim to a scam.

Please always go thru the ARF website to make your online donation or to a person you know here in Boquete as being associated with ARF.

When making a donation online thru our Pay Pal account, you will always receive a thank you note on behalf of ARF for your donation.  If you would like to ensure your donations are coming to us, please contact us by email and we can confirm this with you.

WE GOT OUR FIRST GRANT!

We recently applied for and were told we were approved for a grant with SPCA International.

Let’s all jump up and clap now-YAY!

The funds will come later in the year as they have a long list of applicants to process.  From what we can determine, we are hoping it will cover at least one month of our usual expenses.

Bingo

April’s bingo was a success and we honestly had more participants than expected which is great!  (sorry about the close quarters).  The next bingo event will be at the Boquete Brewing Company on Thursday May 18th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.  Come early, get your preferred seat and order some lunch.  Happy Hour drink prices will be offered.   Bring all your friends!  The more that attend the bigger the cash prizes!

Hoedown recap:  As last year, this year’s event was also a success!  Thanks to everyone who attended.  The food was delish (thanks Sherry, Anita and Debby), the music great (thanks Stone) and thank you Cowboy Dave and Judy for getting things going on the dance floor.  Thanks also to all the other volunteers who helped pull this all together.

Do you like dogs, but can’t have, or don’t want one full time?  A few of our animals are very timid and need help with socialization.  What would that entail?  Taking them for walks, bringing them into town where they can experience being around different people and smells.  If you are interested in helping out, even if for a short stint, please contact us.

Featured animal – Benji

If you are looking for a house-trained female couch potato, Benji is the one for you.  She has been our longest term foster at three years so she really needs to find that forever home.  Benji is low to medium energy level. She is a bit hard of hearing and has an old leg injury, but gets around just fine.   She will need a fenced in yard.  Benji is about 7 years old, 45 pounds, and has been spayed and is up to date on shots.  She loves to chase laser lights and walks well on a leash.  Benji can have some issues with other dogs, so it would be best if she could find a human companion(s) that she will be completely dedicated to.

ARF is a small non-profit animal organization dedicated to the rescue, care, foster and adoption of the unwanted and neglected animals in Boquete and the surrounding areas.  Please visit our website at http://www.arf-boquete.com/  if you are interested in adopting an animal.  You can also help with the financial support of these animals by clicking here http://www.arf-boquete.com/donate.html 100% of our donations go to the animals.
