Manuel Ulises Mayorga, 40 years old, murdered last Thursday night in Los Molinos, Boquete, was serving an 80-month sentence for money laundering and was under house arrest, confirmed commissioner Erick Hing, executive of the Chiriquí police zone, on Friday.
Mayorga was shot several times by unknown assailants at his residence in the Los Molinos housing development in Boquete; family members heard several gunshots and when they arrived in the living room they found the deceased lying on the floor.
According to commissioner Hing, once they were informed of the homicide, they set up roadblocks, checkpoints and with the support of the community, they managed to apprehend a 36 year old citizen from the province of Panama, who is allegedly linked to the homicide.
The suspect was apprehended when he was being transported in a bus on the Potrerillos-David route and it is presumed that they escaped from the place by the cliff that is close to the urbanisation, to go out to the village of Potrerillos in the district of Dolega.
The detainee was placed under the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the investigation is progressing, without ruling out the possibility that there are other people linked to the bloodshed, said Hing. It was reported that Mayorga had been the target of attacks in the past.

Paramedics arrived at the scene, who certified his death and notified the National Police, informing the authorities of the Public Prosecutor's Office to carry out the removal of the body and ordered its transfer to the judicial morgue.
