The suspended notice from ning would probably be a better iron-on transfer.  Those can be done by anyone with a printer and an iron (NOT iRon, that's an Apple product).  The artwork would be great as an embroidery project but it must be converted to a punch format for machine embroidery.

Adding a reference to Chiriqui.Life as the replacement would be a nice touch to the artwork, I think.

I haven't tried to find iron-on transfer paper here, but it probably exists.  It would be, by far, a better option than an embroidery design, as well as much cheaper.  For iron-on you need an ink jet printer, reverse the image before printing.  No, I'm not interested in taking this on, but someone might be.  I will be happy to provide the art, any size needed.

I like the idea of including a reference to Chiriqui Life.

  2. "..that  CL will reconsider it's decision"

If I am reading correctly, this was not CL's decision.

You are right, Keith.  The decision to remove the blog links to Chiriqui Chatter was apparently Don Ray's, not CL's.  I'm hoping that Don Ray will attach his links to an appropriate Topic within CL or, at least, include a word or two about the subject linked to.

  3. I received a message from Bob, stating that several complaints had come in about my Chiriqui Life blog. The complaints were that the CL blog post only contained a title and a link to my primary blog.

Bud offered a simple solution of adding a few more descriptive sentences to assist the CL readers in deciding to click the link or not.

After giving this some thought, I have asked Bud to remove my blog from CL, I think the Blog section is really intended for those that don’t have content space on the Internet and i obviously do.

Also, for me to add enough description to allow readers to decide to click or not click is too much like having to write a summary of the original post.

My sincere apologizes  to those that wasted time clicking on the URLs.

It could be that some computers are very slow in loading your Chiriqui Chatter site, frustrating some since they did not know even IF they would be interested in the subject contained.  I would like to continue seeing links to your blog here on CL and hope that you can place your links within a related topic.... OR, that CL will reconsider it's decision to remove your blog links.

  4. Just had a peek at ning.  Ambreen has out-done herself.  She has recently posted Lee's blog, BoqueteGuide.com, under the caption, "Moving here, Read this".  The opening sentence, "Welcome WSJ readers to Boquete Panama", makes it seem that The Wall Street Journal has contributed the blog.  There is no mention, or credit given to Lee Zeltzer.

As I am blocked from commenting on ning, I thought I would give a heads' up in case someone would like to make a discussion to point out Ambreens convenient faux pas...

The Ning owners have no problem using someone else's material as if it were their own.  The entire "Moving Here, Read This'' was written by Lee Zeltzer several years ago and should include his byline.  I could post this information on Ning, if I thought it would make any difference or if I cared that JLM has, once again, proved that they are clueless internet neophytes who don't know enough to even pretend to respect others.  Obviously, I don't.

  5. If you can't understand the Spanish...find the same thing in English.   Keith is providing valuable information...albeit in Spanish legaleese.  (I have trouble with English legaleese !)   Panama with its ailing penal system, a very weak social welfare system to assist in the rehabilitation of delinquents, and rising gang problems is pressured ( UN, OAS, Human Rights organizations) to be fair, be kind and offer alternatives to under aged criminals. The sense is that they get worse in prisons, and in Panamas prisons I'd have to agree.  To have in place an effective rehabilitation effort that works  takes enormous resources: government financed as well as NGOs.   I doubt this will happen over night.  The powers that be are caught between a rock and a hard spot.  So for us....it's duck and cover.

I would hope that any and all information related to life in Panama, particularly in Boquete or Chiriqui, be posted here in Chiriqui Life.  The idea that things should not be included here because they are written in Spanish is short-sighted.  If someone doesn't want to bother getting information translated, fine, don't bother.

There is a great deal of information shared by our Mayor's office, by the President, by the Police and many other arms of the government here, all of which should be part of this forum.  I hope Keith and others will not hesitate to share.

    Good day,

My name is Halibor and I am a Lawyer from Germany. I am offering you a lucrative business to act as the next of kin to my client who died intestate. I want to present you to the bank as the only surviving maternal relative and this gives us 100% opportunity. I was the personal attorney to Mr. Imran Waheed, a German/Pakistani national who worked with a top construction company here in Germany.

Mr. Imran Waheed made a fixed deposit of fund valued at USD$14,000,000.00 (Fourteen Million Dollars) with a Bank and unfortunately lost his life in a Bhoja Air crash Boeing 737-200, registration AP-BKC performing flight B4-213 from Karachi to Islamabad (Pakistan) with 121 passengers and 6 crew members on board on April 20th 2012 as you can read on the following link: http://rt.com/news/plane-crash-pakistan-boeing-580/

He left no clear beneficiary as Next of Kin except some vital documents related to the deposit that is still in my possession.

Recently, the governing body of the Bank contacted me on this matter, requesting that I should notify the next of kin of my late client to claim the funds and I am yet to provide the Next of Kin to lay claims to the fund. I know that my client had no living next of kin but I went ahead and made several inquiries to his embassy to locate any of his extended relatives but this has proved unsuccessful. Therefore, under a clear and legitimate agreement with you, I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin so that, this fund will not be confiscated by the Bank.

You and I can share the money, you will be entitled to 50% of the total fund for your role as the relative to my late client, while the balance 50% will be for me. Be informed that there is no risk involved as all the legal documents that will be needed to back you up as the true and only surviving maternal relative will be procured by me.

All I require is your sincerity, honesty, co-operation and utmost good faith to enable us see this deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you and I from any breach of the law.

We can both use this money to better the lives of our family rather than been confiscated by the Bank. Great opportunities like this never come twice. Be rest assured that in approximately 2 weeks, we should be through with this project if we dedicate our time to it.

I will greatly appreciate if you consider my offer and send me your full contact information

  7. I also make a broth from chicken bones and veges.  When the broth and veges are cooked and separated from the (wing) bones, I put the bones through my blender.  I screen out splinters and larger pieces and have a creamy paste that I add, in small amounts, to feedings.  Daily my three dogs get Bravo dry food, about 1/2 c of canned dog food, an Omega pill, to which I add my homemade broth and a little bit of the bone paste.  Scrambled eggs added on Sundays.  Tuna fish in oil added on Wednesdays.  Cooked beef or chicken livers about 3 times a month.

  8. Yes, it is kinda your own stupid fault*

*Comment by Admin_01: Because of questions raised by some members of this website about Franagain labeling someone "stupid" (abusing someone is contrary to our Governance Documents), be advised that the above is the title of a blog posting on another website. If you click on that link, you will be taken to that blog. Franagain is simply making that information available on this website by cross-posting this link, and is not abusing anyone based on her words here on this website.

  9. It may be of interest to know that restaurants in Boquete are not required to provide potable drinking water - the health department does not require proof that water served is safe or clean.  Some customers drink bottled water (which may or may not be any better), but local water used in food preparation, ice, coffee, etc., may not be free of contaminates.  You pays your money and you takes your chances.....

I'm told that David restaurants DO have to provide proof that water served is safe/clean.  Might just be another rumor, though.

  10. One of the documents that sparked attention to the quality of water is this one, showing several months' test results of street (unfiltered) water in Oriana (Alto Boquete). The street water here is not potable, not safe to drink.

I live in Oriana and had my water tested back in March also.  As a result of the tests, I had a UV system installed by Grupo Agua here.  My household water is now clean and safe to drink.  I wanted my entire house on the system, instead of just ''drinking'' water, because of the possibility of contaminates in the water I use to brush my teeth, to shower, and as residue on clothes, bedding and kitchen ware.  I am very happy with my system, which cost about $800.

I've not been able to determine the SOURCE of Oriana's water.  There is a large raised tank that may or may not be cleaned regularly.  Where the water comes from that fills that tank is unknown.

  11. I did create a new Gallery and uploaded a photo to it.  Thank you for the instructions!

I assume that anyone can upload to my or any other Gallery.  It would seem to me to be logical if, as the creator of a Gallery, I would be the one to determine whether or not others could upload to it.  I don't think I saw that option.

  12. JLM (Ning owners) seems to have very little internet experience or they would know that it is rude to post in BOLD ALL CAPS (as in their current intro).  I don't think anyone communicating on behalf of JLM passed high school English/grammar/spelling, (see Dottie's notes re ''due?'', ''every day'', and ''today''), and logic doesn't seem to be a strong point since they keep insisting that they will be making the ''majority'' of their readers happy but don't want anyone to comment - good or bad - on the site... so I guess they will be creating their own ''majority'' by eliminating the ''minority''.

I don't have the impression that the writer has English as a second language.  I think the writer is ignorant and/or lazy, as well as arrogant and condescending.

I do enjoy it when they quote Lee's rule .... ''If you don't know how Boquete.Ning is managed, please close your account and move on.  Your right to free speech is not part of the deal here.''  I wrote that rule and all the others that they attribute to Lee.

Boquete Ning continues to use my copyrighted member avatar image for those members who haven't uploaded their own.  I've asked them to discontinue using it.  But they might not be able to figure out how for a while, until they get to the chapter on images in ''Coding for Dummies.''
