  1. We proudly celebrated our 1 year anniversary (of opening the shop) this past Saturday and had a wonderful turnout.  The fact that we were offering free treats probably helped.  Even so, we thank everyone who came by or wished us well and we're especially happy to have seen so many new faces and gained so many new customers.  Making chocolate and living in Boquete; it doesn't get much better than that!

  2. The BCP is a great place for stage productions.  However, after attending the last performance of Send Me Back to Panama there, I am of the opinion that the music is better suited to a different venue - one where people can get up out of their seats and dance.  The band is tight, the performances are invigorating and the music is great, but just sitting there watching seems a little strange.  Just my two cents.

  3. CHOX is one of the few local customers of COCABO, an agricultural co-op in Almirante, near Bocas del Toro.  For the most part, they export it.  All European chocolate, by the way, is made from cacao grown elsewhere - the Ivory Coast, Central America and other places within 20 degrees of the equator.  There is no cacao in Belgium, Switzerland, France...

  4. From .ning:

Maybe referring to Carne Xpress/Palacio de Carne?

Its right across the street from the Palacio Imperial Hotel.
The owner is Alexander Pineda, from Volcan.
From the InterAmerican, turn at Auto DK (thats the area with Hopsa/Mae Lewis and Cochez)
About 3 blocks down is the Palacio and butcher shop.

From me:  it's on the left side, bright green building.  He has American cuts and will cut to order.

  5. Once again, has there been any official confirmation or denial that juveniles apprehended were released back into the community? I suggest that the first pressure brought to bear should be that the authorities give the community a full and complete report of what happened (how many, ages, e.g.) and what is happening to those apprehended. We are operating largely off rumor and unconfirmed media reports.

Yes, there was confirmation.  Dianne insisted on knowing and Capt. Arauz confirmed that at least one minor was released because he is under 14 and can't be prosecuted.  He was also very adamant that the problem is not with the NP, who did their job by apprehending these people, but rather with the ministry of justice (?) that releases them.

  6. The paperwork can be done from here, but you have to go to Panama once to finalize it.  No getting around that that I know of, but you can ask to have the card sent to Boquete and pick it up from the Registro Publico (on the street behind Sugar&Spice) when it's ready, rather than making a return trip.
