Seems like there is no reason for seniors in our expat community to get the shot if it is not working half the time. I have never had a flu shot simply because the shots contain last years flu virus' and it is my understanding that many of these virus' mutate and adapt making the shot obsolete.

Thanks all.

Is this the place across from Alto Dorado plaza? If so, I went there for vegetables and they had none yet their sign says they have veggies.

Too funny Bonnie! Panama just recognized Taiwan as being part of China. I am thinking that would not be politically correct for the Taiwanese.

There are small farms that are growing "organic" trout, salmon and tilapia. These fish take longer to grow and, because they spawn naturally, are seasonal. In my opinion, GMO is not necessary if we all learn to eat what is available seasonally.

I have a friend in the US who is interested in teaching English to the Chinese as was advertised about 9 - 12 months ago on several blogs in Boquete. Does anyone still have this information? I did a search and was not able to find the original post. Thanks all!

The mayor seems to have a close relationship With the ex-president, with whom he has been meeting since he moved to Miami reports La Prensa with his family and set up his office reports La Prensa.
Makes one wonder if the Miami mayor is being paid off as well! Maybe he has been taking lessons from Martinelli ("Teacher") on how to cheat Miami tax payers.

Using the ATM and withdrawing at a cost of $5.25 per transaction is the way I do it. I did have a bank account at Banistmo before they left Boquete but the fees were exorbitant. I have both my Canadian and U.S. pensions deposited to an online bank, USAA which, because they do not have brick & mortar locations, have no service fees for international transactions or transfers. Internet banking is safe and service charges are practically non existent. Just a thought.

Would an organization such as this also help refugees coming to Panama from other countries?

Its users include: the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD), operated by the World Food Program (WFP); the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC); and the National System of Civil Protection (SINAPROC).

My suggestion was not meant to be taken seriously folks! I would never want "deplorables" living next to me in or out of a basket. LOL

I don't believe that's correct, Marie. While it is illegal to turn left off Avenida Central onto the street when traveling north, I believe it is permitted to turn right when going south. That has been a two-way street (or at least used as a two-way street) for as long as I've been here. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
So those travelling north have to turn around or turn left at a street that allows left turns and come back. Thanks for the correction.

Would be nice if we could skip the expensive Jubilado process and go right to Cedula.

Martinelli helps the other prisoners, guides them and attends to their inquirie
I wonder what this means? Is he teaching others how to steal, launder money and generally get away with murder?

I would like to mention that the road in front of Baru is a one way street travelling east from the school so there should not be two way traffic on that road. I believe it is a matter of time before the Policia start ticketing. I buy my produce at the green grocer across from Sr. Gyros, fresher and for the most part, not coming from farms using a lot of pesticides (like Cerro Punta farmers). I think Mandarin has the best chicken in town so I tend to buy my dry goods there as well. As for Romero's, the smell has always turned me off.

Sorry, it is Revilla not Avilla. Pushed the wrong keys!

Danka refused to fill my prescription for heart medication 2.5 years ago and I ended up using Avilla instead. My medication is a common one, atenalol, and can be found at most pharmacies. They were not even nice about refusing me.

I knew these existed but never knew what to look for. Thanks for the info!

Hi Dottie,
Would this be like the paper a butcher would use to wrap meat? If so, perhaps one of the butchers in town can help. Also try the fabric store since dress patterns are sometimes made from this brown paper. There is always one of the art stores in David. Just some thoughts/

Are there no restaurant health inspectors here in Panama?

What a cutie! Hope she finds a loving forever home.

Another immigration mess! I wonder what nations they contacted? I am sure Canada would love to have these refugees. I am a "tourist" in this country who is between a rock and a hard place and nobody has offered me money. I could use the $1650 to get my Jubilado. LOL

I am so happy to hear you are doing well and recovering from your ordeal. Do you feel safer in Mexico Marion? Perhaps you should send a list to Leslie of your missing items so you can be included.

Stopped by yesterday and the menu is small and the smoothies looked yummy.

Ministry of Health versus the H1N1 Influenza Virus
in Health and Health Care, Special Care Facilities (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, etc.)

Obviously I am not a medical professional but the Canadian studies are downgrading success rates of flu vaccines in general and this is upsetting to me. I assumed this meant the H1N1 as well. If this new vaccine is for type A & B is an improvement, I suppose time will tell. Doe's anyone know if these flu virus' mutate and adapt like other virus'?
