Event details

Panama International Book Fair goes virtual

Posted 10/07/2020

The Panama International Book Fair (FIL) from August 13-16 will be held virtually and free of charge for the first time because of COVID-19, the organizers reported Thursday.

"Read about us" is the motto of the Fair, which will have a platform that will make it easy for visitors to digitally tour the pavilions and the exhibitions of the bookstores, interact with the authors, and enter 3D rooms for book presentations.

Last year  at the Atlapa convention center the fair attracted 100,000  visitors and in its virtual form will again   be attended by local and international authors who will participate in discussion groups

There will be talks with the UN to discuss how society has handled the issue of COVID-19 and human rights.

The fair will once again host the Panama Black Festival on the detective novel.

Book Fair goes digital

Posted 13/08/2020

The International Book Fair of Panama had to reinvent itself. Like all of us, in the midst of the pandemic, the 16th edition of this literary event has been digitalized. National and international audiences will be able to follow the forums, book presentations, and explore the virtual shelves from today until August 16. The book fair is the clearest demonstration of the ability to dream and innovate that underlies the Panamanian soul. This is a showcase, which is now, more than ever, offered on the web, in Zoom, and on YouTube, as a democratic opportunity to learn about all literary genres first-hand and participate in current debates. Since its first version, it has been incubating a new literary and cultural horizon for Panama, serving as a platform for the launch of new authors, and the rediscovery of Panamanian classics, which on many occasions were already absent from bookstores. The testimonies and literary experiences are the mirrors of our conscience. Today the International Book Fair enters a new and exciting chapter, which we can be part of at filpanama.org.LA PRENSA.
