Gasoline prices get third increase

For the third consecutive period, the price of fuel  at gas  pumps across country will increase on Frida June 5  in  Panama and Colon, according to the National Energy Secretariat.  95 octane  will climb 3 cents a liter and 91 octane gasoline will increase by 2 cents a liter, while low-sulfur diesel will increase by 3 cents.  

Oil prices fell during April, and recovered slightly in May  but still remains below $40 a barrel.

The recovery in the price of crude oil is related to the cuts announced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)  of almost 10 million barrels a day/

Brent closed on  Wednesday, June 3 at $39.62 .

Fuels: Price Control in Panama

A presidential decree gives the National Energy Secretariat the power to regulate maximum retail prices for 91 and 95 octane gasoline and low-sulfur diesel.

The regulation of maximum prices will be in effect for a six-month period, which may be extended, according to Executive Decree No. 474 of June 10, 2020 published in the Official Journal.

All motor vehicle fuels will go up one cent a liter on Friday, July 17 in time for the weekend total quarantine.  95 octane gasoline will sell .65 cents per liter, and  91 octane gasoline l at  63 cents. Low sulfur diesel will be.53 cents a liter. The prices will in force until July 31.

Gas prices climb on Friday

Fuel prices will rise on  Friday, August 28 with 95 octane increasing by three cents, to.66 cents a while the 91 rises by  by two cents, to .64 cents per liter. Low-sulfur diesel is unchanged at 54 cents a liter.

The price of all automobile fuels will fall two cents a liter at the pumps on Friday, September 25. The 95 octane gasoline will sell at 64 cents a liter and 91 octane at 62 cents a liter. Low-sulfur diesel will cost 50 cents. The prices will be valid until October 9.

The price of a liter of 95 octane gasoline will fall by one cent to 0.64 cents while 91 octane will remain at.63 cents per liter from Friday October 2. Low sulfur diesel will increase by one cent to 52 cents a liter.The prices will be in force until November 6

The Ministry of Energy reported that there will be new fuel prices from Friday, December 18.

 The 95 octane gasoline increases by two cents, to67 cents a liter; the 91 octane adds two cents to .65 cents a liter. Low sulfur diesel will increase two cents  to 58 cents a liter. The prices will apply until 5:59 a.m. on January 1

A new rise will be reflected from this Friday, February 26, in the country's fuel prices.
says the Ministry of Energy. The 95 octane gasoline will raise its price 5 cents to
80 cents per liter.
Meanwhile, 91 octane gasoline will increase by 5 cents to 79 cents per liter.
Low-sulfur diesel will also increase by 4 cents, to 69 cents a liter.
These prices will apply until 5:59 a.m. on March 12.

Fuels: Prices in the Region as of March 2021

In the first days of March of this year, the highest prices were reported in the Dominican Republic, while the lowest were registered in the Panamanian capital.

The regional report on average prices to the final consumer of gasoline, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Central America, effective for the week of February 27 to March 7, 2021, was made based on official prices and monitoring or surveys carried out by the different General Directorates of Hydrocarbons or equivalent, in the capital of each Central American country.

The document states that "... the highest prices with taxes in the capitals of the country correspond to the Dominican Republic in all products. Meanwhile, the lowest prices with taxes in the capital correspond to Panama."

The report adds that "... the highest prices without taxes correspond to Nicaragua. Meanwhile, the lowest price without taxes for premium gasoline corresponds to Costa Rica while the lowest prices without taxes for regular gasoline and diesel correspond to El Salvador."

Gasoline prices will increase on Friday, March 26 for the sixth time so far this year. 91 octane will rise two cents to  84 cents a liter and  95 octane will add one cent to 85 cents a  liter. Low sulfur diesel remains at 71 cents a liter. These prices will apply until  April 9.

Panama: Fuel Consumption Rising

In the first quarter of 2021 fuel sales in the country have shown an upward trend, as in January 59.6 million gallons were demanded, in February the figure rose to 65.3 million gallons and in March it climbed to 75.7 million gallons.

The accumulated figures show that during the first quarter of the year, 201 million gallons of fuel were sold in the Panamanian market, a figure that is 20% lower than that reported in the same period of 2020.

The General Comptroller of the Republic reported that during the first three months of 2021, gasoline consumption in the country, which includes 91 and 95 octane gasoline, amounted to 66 million gallons, 12% less than the 76 million gallons recorded in the same period of 2020.

The demand for low-sulfur diesel also registered a decrease for the periods in question, falling from 86 million to 81 million gallons. In the case of Bunker C, consumption decreased 30%, going from 6.8 million to 4.8 million gallons.

Liquefied petroleum gas, which includes butane and propane sales, decreased by 14%, going from 25 million gallons to 21 million gallons. View full report.

The Ministry of Energy reports that 95 octane gasoline will raise its price by two cents to 0.90 cents per liter. 91 octane gasoline will increase two cents to 0.87 cents per liter. Low-sulfur diesel will rise two cents to 0.77 cents a liter. These new prices will be in force until July 2.

Panama gasoline prices up 25.6% in first semester

The price of gasoline in Panama, during the first semester of 2021, registered an increase of 25.6%  behind only  Argentina with the highest percentage of increase (49.2%), in the region according to an analysis of the firm picodi.com marketing agency.

Currently and until July 30, a liter of 95 octane gasoline at the Panama and Colón stations sells for 93 cents and a gallon for $3.55.

In July 2020, when consumption had fallen due to the pandemic, the 95 octane liter cost 64 cents and a gallon$2.43, that is, in one year the increase has been $1.11 per gallon. Panama does not have a refinery and buys finished fuels on the international market, according to fluctuations in the price of oil; and it must index the costs of insurance, transportation, and tax for the State.

Gasoline prices rise again on Friday, September 10 until 5:59 am on September 24.

The Ministry of Energy reported that 95 octane gasoline will go up by two cents to 92 cents per liter.

Meanwhile, 91 octane gasoline will increase its cost by three cents to 90  cents a liter and low-sulfur diesel will also raise its price by three cents, to 77 cents a liter.

From Friday, October 22 until November 5, fuel prices will register a new increase. The Ministry of Energy reported that 95 octane gasoline will increase its cost by five cents to 0.98 cents per liter. 91 octane gasoline will rise five cents to 0.95 cents per liter. Starting Friday, November 5, a liter of 95 octane gasoline will cost $1.00 an increase of two cents established by the National Energy Secretariat . Gasoline of 91 octane will an increase of two cents to 0.97 cents per liter, while the low sulfur diesel will cost 0.87 , a penny more than the current price.
