Bonnie
I just returned from the food fair with a Pricesmart shopping bag filled with goodies: cookies, chocolates, corned beef sandwiches with sauerkraut, weiner schnitzel, empanadas, cinnamon buns, and more. Everything I sampled was delicious; the local chefs and bakers are putting on quite a show. Don't miss it. It runs until 2:00 or until all the food is gone.
Bonnie
I've tasted everything I bought. All of it is delicious. But I want to give a special shout-out to a new outfit called AM which, I learned today, sells under an umbrella in the square near the clock. Their empanadas are superb, and they make a pancake/crepe that is slightly sweet and filled with a mild, white cheese that's out of this world. Eat as they are or with maple syrup. It's my intention to drop by their place of business often. Their brochure indicates that they also serve pizza, gluten-free Venezuelan arepas, and batidos. They are open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 to 7:30.
Pederhaney
I thought they were in the corner "orangish-yellow" shop in the building on the corner (which has had a multitude of vendors).
Bonnie
Could be. But he talked to me about an umbrella, and an umbrella is featured on the front of the flyer he handed out today. Maybe it's out front for people to sit under and eat.
Deborah
It is indeed in the building Pederhaney mentioned, on the corner in the little teeny restaurant spot (formerly the Corner Cafe or something like that). They do have a table or two with an umbrella and chairs outside, which is fortunate because the inside is very hot and cramped. The arepas are very good and I particularly enjoy the warm chicken salad one with their house made garlic sauce drizzled on it. That is a special treat when I allow myself some carbs.
